We recently had the chance to connect with Lorianne L and have shared our conversation below.
Good morning Lorianne, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? When was the last time you felt true joy?
This question is so hard, I do not remember which is sad but true. I feel some joy when i listen to music. It’s something about the instrumental that really touch me and transform me.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, my name is Lorianne and I’m the owner of Nianto Beauty. The name Nianto was actually my grandmother’s nickname, and I chose it to honor her memory. A lot of who I am—my personality, my love for beauty and creativity—comes from her, so it felt only right to carry her spirit into my brand.
At Nianto Beauty, I sell a mix of jewelry: from everyday fashion pieces to fun, unique meme earrings, as well as African-themed designs. Including African-inspired jewelry was especially important to me because I’m originally from Libreville, Gabon, and I wanted my culture to shine through in what I create.
Right now, I sell exclusively on TikTok Shop, while also running a blog at niantobeauty.com where I share more about my store and products. In the future, I plan to expand into lip gloss and shea butter cream. Since TikTok requires FDA approval for those products, it’s a work in progress—but it’s definitely part of the vision.
My brand is all about being fun, authentic, and approachable. I want people to feel free to express themselves through fashion—whether it’s a bold necklace, a pair of meme earrings, or a cultural piece that tells a story. At the heart of Nianto Beauty, it’s about wearing what makes you happy, embracing your individuality, and feeding your confidence.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
To trust that most people are honest
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes, multiple times last year and this year I wanted to give up because depression was causing me to not be able to do things to promote the store.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, I am me all the time,
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
That I was mean and judgmental when really I just treat people the way I treat myself, I am direct, honest but it’s because I love them and I want them to succeed
