Hi Omar, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
After a successful 20-year career as a United States Air Force officer, I transitioned to a new role with the Department of Agriculture’s Forest Service. There, I assisted in the creation of the first consolidated Human Resource Service Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This experience marked the beginning of my exploration across a wide variety of industries, including sales, retail, coaching, property management, and finance.
Throughout these diverse experiences, one constant stood out: my passion for people. Whether managing teams, serving clients, or mentoring others, the relationships and sense of community I built along the way proved to be the most rewarding aspect of my journey.
In 2017, my dedication to community and mentoring led me to the Austin, Texas area. It was here that I met Dr. Megan Hood, a kindred spirit who shared my enthusiasm for serving others. Together, we discovered a mutual interest in creating something meaningful for our families while also giving back to our neighbors.
We were both drawn to the business model of Eggs Up Grill. The restaurant’s inviting atmosphere and focus on providing a neighborhood gathering place resonated with our values. Eggs Up Grill is more than just a place to eat—it’s a space where great food and friendly smiles help foster connections within the community.
Today, we are proud to open our first Eggs Up Grill store in the South Austin area. Looking ahead, we are excited to expand with additional locations, reaching communities from Bastrop to New Braunfels, and continuing our commitment to building a welcoming environment for all.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
As an entrepreneur, one of the greatest challenges is cultivating patience. Success does not happen overnight, and it is essential to pace yourself in a realistic manner. By setting achievable goals and allowing progress to unfold naturally, entrepreneurs can avoid burnout and maintain a healthy outlook on their journey.
Surrounding yourself with people who support your dream is crucial. A strong support system provides encouragement during difficult times and celebrates your achievements alongside you. These relationships help reinforce your motivation and keep you focused on your vision.
Business, like any aspect of life, involves risks. It is important to accept this reality and continue moving forward. One key lesson is to never second guess yourself. Trust in your own decisions and intuition, and remain confident as you navigate the uncertainties of entrepreneurship.
Trust the river—it always finds the easiest and most peaceful path. The entrepreneurial journey may present rapids and challenges, but holding on and staying focused on the journey ensures continued progress. Ultimately, the joy is found not just in the destination, but in the experiences and growth that occur along the way.

My greatest passion has always been building strong teams and mentoring young adults. I find fulfillment in helping guide individuals as they grow, both personally and professionally. In my free time, I dedicate myself to consulting and life coaching. I work with those who are eager to overcome daily mental barriers and strive for personal freedom and growth. Currently, my focus is on creating empowered teams within our Eggs Up Grill family. I am committed to fostering an environment where every team member feels valued and motivated to succeed.
One of the most rewarding aspects of my journey is witnessing the success of those who have entered my life over the years. Their accomplishments stand as a testament to my actions and approach, reflecting the true impact of what I do rather than what I say.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
Throughout my life, my parents, family, and personal experiences have played a crucial role in shaping who I am. Each of these influences has contributed to my understanding of myself and my motivations. My parents, along with my family, have shown me both what to do and what not to do. Their guidance extended beyond simply teaching me actions; they provided examples through their own choices and behaviors. I learned from their successes as well as their mistakes, which helped me form my own values and principles.
Every experience I have had has taught me more about myself. These moments, both positive and negative, have clarified what drives me and what keeps me moving forward. My journey through various situations has given me insight into my character and helped me grow.
My parents instilled in me a passion for enjoying life regardless of circumstances. They emphasized that the idea of life itself holds greater importance than simply acquiring things. Their perspective taught me that focusing on the journey is what truly matters, and that fulfillment comes from appreciating each step along the way rather than merely striving for material gains. My son and friends keep me grounded and focused on the important things, like love and compassion for everything around me. Enjoy the ride.
