Exploring Life & Business with Evelin Martinez of Evergreen Pro-Care

Today we’d like to introduce you to Evelin Martinez.

Evelin, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Our Story; Evergreen Pro-Care began as a vision my husband and I shared to bring a fresh perspective to lawn care and landscape maintenance — one that values the environment just as much as appearances. In 2007, when my father bought acreage in the Hill Country after we moved from California. Watching him care for the land and grow vegetables taught me early on the importance of living in balance with nature.

Later, my husband and I spent three years living in Austin before purchasing our first home in Leander. Having our own home deepened our love for maintaining landscapes that are not only well cared for but also environmentally mindful. With his background in the landscaping industry since 2015 — including learning from a woman-owned business (Hill Country Blooms) that valued detail and doing things the right way — we set out to build a company that combined professionalism with eco-conscious practices.

Today, Evergreen Pro-Care primarily services vacant and investment properties across Austin, San Antonio, and Houston, including work with a well-known telecommunications company in San Antonio as well a national groups. As a woman-owned business in a male-dominated field, we take pride in offering a perspective that focuses on temporary water-efficient irrigation, sustainable practices, and caring for our clients we service. For us, landscape maintenance and lawn care isn’t just about curb appeal — it’s about coexisting with nature.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road hasn’t always been smooth, but every challenge has taught us something valuable. Being small business owners there isn’t always a clear playbook to follow for growth. When we first started, it was just my husband and me with our SUV, a lawnmower, and the same equipment we used at home. We invested our own money into building Evergreen Pro-Care, and in the beginning, it was overwhelming to balance both the hands-on work and the administrative side.

Even now, we continue to face challenges daily — from learning something new, to improving our workflows, handling schedules, and striving to be consistently profitable. As a young company, we’ve had to reinvest much of our earnings back into the business, which can be tough, but we see it as building a strong foundation for the future. What has made the biggest difference is the support of our family and having people we can reach out to for guidance. Every step forward — even the difficult ones — is helping us grow into the business we envision Evergreen Pro-Care becoming.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Evergreen Pro-Care ?
Evergreen Pro-Care is a lawn care and landscaping maintenance company proudly serving Austin, San Antonio, and Houston. We focus on commercial and vacant property care, specializing in Eco-friendly practices, water-efficient temporary irrigation, and sustainable landscape maintenance. What makes us different is that we don’t just care about how a property looks — we care about how it impacts the environment. Every project is an opportunity to create balance, protect resources. We are currently accepting new clients and look forward to partnering with businesses and organizations that share our vision for sustainability and care.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I believe good luck comes when you recognize an opportunity and work hard to make it count. My husband and I took a chance when we started Evergreen Pro-Care, encouraged by my sister-in-law’s who is also a small business owner at M&C Lawn and Landscaping LLC who also services the Austin area, and later we were introduced to a large commercial client in telecommunications. At the time, we didn’t feel fully ready, but we embraced the opportunity and made it work. Luck may open the door, but it’s the hard work and persistence that keeps it open.
