Meet Emily Ingraham of Temple, Tx

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Ingraham.

Hi Emily, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’m definitely not where I thought I’d be 5 years ago. If you told me that when I stepped out into my own space I wouldn’t be doing haircolor anymore I’d look at you like you had two heads. I’ve been a colorist my entire 13 year career as a hair stylist. After almost 5 years in my own suite I developed debilitating sensitivity to the chemicals I worked with on a daily basis. I had to stop doing haircolor all together, my health was hanging by a thread. As months have passed I have slowly been regaining strength and new clarity on my journey behind the chair. I have adjusted my services to focus on scalp health and helping women grow the hair of their dreams. I have even started to learn about energy healing and how our bodies hold memory, which can contribute to hair loss and thinning. I am still learning and evolving and am so excited to see where this journey takes me in holistic haircare, and helping women and other stylist find cleaner haircare options and still shine like the queens they are.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The journey has been… turbulent.
I’ve spent so much time trying to figure out what to do.
I finally just let it all go and gave it to God. I have put my business in his hands and am taking the steps I feel the most excited about. Learning to trust God and myself has been a learning curve for me because I spent years looking to others for guidance. That usually never lasted or felt in alignment with my dreams.
I’m learning how to trust my intuition and the more I dive into my holistic lifestyle the more at home I feel with myself and my business.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We all shine in such a unique way. I love getting to know my guests and helping them with their hair goals.
I used to spend hours with my clients completely transforming their haircolor, their cuts, their texture and even doing extensions. I’ve also spent many hours creating gorgeous up-dos and formal styles for special occasions like weddings and prom. I have also had the pleasure of being the on location stylist for the Belle’s of belton on the day of their annual ball for the last few years.
After my debilitating sensitivity to the chemicals forced me to stop performing those services I had time to reflect, losing about 90% of my business and income will make you do that.
I still saw some of my regulars, and only do haircuts, scalp detoxing, special ocasion styles and facial waxing now.
They were curious as to what I would do now, and I was so scared I would have to quit everything I worked so hard to build.
I prayed about it and went back to the drawing board.
I created a service called The Hair Reset Ritual that focuses on clearing the scalp and hair of build up and any lingering energy that is weighing on my guests.
Our scalp holds so much tension and is directly connected to our crown Chakra, which connects us to God.
Stepping away from chemicals has encouraged me to find a different way to show my creativity.
My haircuts are personalized to you and I am helping women get the best version of their God given beauty. No filters, no extensions, no harsh haircolor or texture chemicals.
Stepping away from the chemicals has been truly eye opening to the vanity we all hold onto that society has told us we need in order to be accepted.
My new creative mission here is to help people find the beauty within.
The more we love and accept ourselves as we are right now, the faster we start shining from within.
I call it the God glow.

What’s next?
I look forward to the future, especially now that I’m finally allowing God to work through me.
I am a healer and it’s such a beautiful gift. My clients have noticed the change in myself and are amazed at how long my own hair has gotten since I’ve made these drastic yet subtle changes to my life. If it’s in God’s will, I could definitely see myself expanding and opening a bigger salon and connecting with more people who are in alignment with me. I am also looking forward to expanding my special ocasion services. Creating gorgeous looks for weddings, proms, balls and photo shoots has always been so fun and I can’t wait to do more!
