Story & Lesson Highlights with Emeril Lester of North Austin

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Emeril Lester. Check out our conversation below.

Emeril, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: Are you walking a path—or wandering?
I’ve been walking a path of creativity, and God has been at the center of it all. Every idea, every project, every step feels inspired by Him. He’s not just my guide He’s my source of energy, wisdom, and courage. On this journey, I’ve learned to trust His timing, lean into His creativity, and see His hand in even the smallest moments. Walking this path with Him has made the journey not just about art, but about purpose and connection.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Emeril Lester. I’m a filmmaker, storyteller, and creative entrepreneur focused on making cinematic, story-driven content that connects with people on a deeper level. I run my own video production company called OSC, which stands for ‘One Step Closer to God.’ Through short films and mini-series I combine faith, narrative, and everyday life in a way that’s authentic, raw, and relatable. What makes it unique is the blend of storytelling and purpose every piece of content isn’t just entertainment, it’s an invitation to reflect, grow, and take steps toward something greater. Right now, I’m working on expanding OSC’s cinematic series, creating content that resonates with both believers and seekers, while building partnerships that help me tell bigger stories.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
What often breaks the bonds between people is fear, pride, misunderstanding, and unspoken expectations those walls we build when we feel hurt or misunderstood. What restores them is vulnerability, empathy, forgiveness, and honest communication the willingness to show up, listen, and choose connection over being right. Restoration begins when we let love and grace guide our actions, even when it’s hard.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Actually, recently. I hit a point where I felt drained and questioned if I was really making a difference. But God reminded me why I started He reminded me that purpose doesn’t disappear just because progress feels slow. That moment of weakness became a moment of renewal, and I realized He’s not done writing my story yet.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Honestly, the public version of me is real but it’s not the whole me. What people see is the part that’s been refined through purpose and calling, but behind that is someone still learning, growing, and figuring things out with God every day. I try to make sure the version people see isn’t a performance, but a reflection of who I truly am just with the parts that God’s still shaping kept a little quieter.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Absolutely. The value of our work isn’t determined by recognition it’s in the effort, the intention, and the integrity we put into it. Giving our best, even when no one notices, builds character, shapes our purpose, and honors God. Praise is nice, but faithfulness is everything.
