Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Miriam Hejazi Miriam Bridal Makeup Co. of East Austin

Miriam Hejazi Miriam Bridal Makeup Co. shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Miriam Hejazi, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
I think the biggest misconception is that what I do is ‘just’ hair and makeup. In reality, it’s so much more than that. I’m one of the first people a bride spends her morning with, and my role goes far beyond curling your hair. I bring a calming, supportive presence to what is an emotional, once-in-a-lifetime morning. I help set the tone for the entire day.

Beautiful hair and makeup isn’t just about how you look, it’s about how you feel. When you feel confident and at peace, it shows in every photo and every moment that follows. That’s why I see my work as not only creating a look you love, but helping you step into your wedding day feeling grounded, radiant, and completely yourself.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! I’m Miriam, the owner and lead artist of Miriam Bridal Makeup Co. A brand built on intention, inclusivity, and connection. I specialize in bridal hair and makeup that feels like an elevated version of yourself. Personalized and true to you.

What truly makes my brand unique is how deeply I care about my brides’ day. Everything I do, from the products I choose to the energy I bring to their morning is rooted in making sure they feel seen, supported, and absolutely radiant. I’m committed to being sanitary, inclusive, and cruelty-free, but also to being your biggest hype woman. My goal is to create a calm, confident start to one of the most important days of your life.

Right now, I’m expanding my bridal team and focusing on education for other artists. Helping them not only refine their technique, but also understand the heart behind my work. Because bridal artistry isn’t just about beauty; it’s about trust, intention, and the experience we create for every bride who sits in our chair.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
Honestly, the most transformative relationship in my life has been the one with myself. It takes real effort to pull yourself out of negative mindsets and quiet that inner critic, and I think so many of us can relate to being our own harshest critic.

Learning to love myself, trust myself, and see the light I bring into the world has been the hardest but most rewarding work I’ve ever done.

My self-relationship changed everything. Not just in my personal life, but in how I show up in my career. Believing in myself has allowed me to take risks, create intentionally, and build a business that comes from a place of purpose rather than fear.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Absolutely. After my first year in the bridal industry, I told myself I’d give it one more year to see if I could really make it work. I didn’t know anything about social media, didn’t have contracts, didn’t have clients and I definitely wasn’t making a lot money. I had just quit my job, so my husband and I were tight on funds for a while but we made it work because I really did not want to give up on my dreams.

Deep down, I knew I couldn’t give up. I had something meaningful to bring to this industry. Your wedding morning is arguably one of the most important parts of the entire day. It sets the tone for everything that follows that day. I wanted to create an experience that honored that.

I’m so grateful I didn’t give up, because now I’m thriving in my business. I work with incredible brides, mentoring artists, growing my team, and connecting with so many amazing people through social media. It’s been one of the most rewarding journeys of my life and I can’t wait to see where else I go.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What important truth do very few people agree with you on?
I genuinely believe that hair and makeup artists are one of the most important vendors on your wedding day. We’re there from the very beginning, often before anyone else, and we spend nearly half the day with you. Setting the tone for everything that follows. The energy we bring helps shape how you feel during some of the most meaningful hours of your life.

It’s more than just hair and makeup. It’s confidence, calm, and the foundation of your entire day. When you feel beautiful and at ease, that energy carries into every photo, every interaction, every memory.

That’s why I always say investing in the right hair and makeup artist, someone whose values and artistry align with yours, will take you so far on your wedding day. The right artist doesn’t just enhance how you look; they elevate how you feel.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people remember me as someone who was kind and deeply supportive. Someone who made others feel safe, valued, and seen. I want to be remembered for the way I cared, not just about my work, but about people and the planet.

At my core, I believe in a world where everyone lives in harmony and peace, with each other, with animals, and with the Earth. If people remember that I moved through life with love and intention, then I’ve done what I was meant to do.
