Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristen Wilson.
Hi Kristen, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Biographical Story of Kristen Wilson
Kristen Wilson, founder of KW Immigration Law PC, grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, in a home shaped by service, discipline, and deep patriotism. As the daughter of two Navy veterans, she learned early the values of commitment and integrity—principles that would later form the backbone of her work as an immigration attorney and entrepreneur.
Kristen’s academic journey led her to Emory University, where she earned the prestigious Wilbur Carlton Scholarship. At Emory, she studied Spanish and International Studies with a concentration in Latin American democracy, deepening both her linguistic skills and her understanding of the political and human realities driving migration across the Americas.
After college, Kristen began her career at a deportation defense firm, gaining firsthand insight into the profound stakes of the immigration system. She went on to work in corporate and family-based immigration law, building eight years of experience across the full spectrum of immigration practice. These formative roles broadened her expertise and reaffirmed her commitment to supporting immigrant communities.
Motivated to expand her role as an advocate, Kristen attended Georgia State University College of Law, returning to her hometown to pursue legal training. She became a licensed attorney in 2019, marking the beginning of a dynamic career dedicated to improving the immigration landscape and empowering individuals and employers alike.
Kristen later moved to Austin, Texas, where she launched a seasonal visa law practice focused on H-2A and H-2B programs, serving businesses in agriculture, landscaping, construction, hospitality, and restaurants. Her work addressed a critical need: helping employers solve complex staffing challenges by connecting them with dependable workers from around the world.
In 2023, she founded her own fully virtual firm, KW Immigration Law PC, now supported by a diverse team across multiple countries. Her practice offers a one-stop solution for seasonal business staffing, professional recruitment, and family immigration matters, enabling small businesses to grow and thrive through access to reliable global talent.
Outside of her legal and entrepreneurial work, Kristen is a dedicated animal advocate. She is passionate about promoting the positive image of pit bull–type dogs in her community and has served on the Board of Directors for Love-A-Bull in Austin. She has also volunteered with the Austin Humane Society, helping support animal welfare and education initiatives that uplift both pets and their families.
A leader, an entrepreneur, and an advocate, Kristen Wilson continues to build bridges—between employers and workers, between communities and opportunity, and between the United States and the world—while championing the causes and creatures that inspire her.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I was not initially accepted to law school of my choice and had to apply three years in a row before I was accepted to Georgia State University. I did not give up and have carried the resilience of this experience with me throughout my legal career and through development of the law firm.
We’ve been impressed with KW Immigration Law pc , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
My Perspective on Risk-Taking
Risk-taking has always been a defining part of who I am. From a young age, I was endlessly curious, entrepreneurial, and eager to create something of my own. I spent my childhood selling lemonade and anything else I could turn into a small profit—early signs of a mindset shaped by initiative and resourcefulness. I inherited this spirit from my mother, who taught me not only how to work hard but how to run a business with confidence and intention.
One of the greatest risks I have ever taken was believing in myself enough to open my own law firm. In 2023, during a time of economic uncertainty and global instability, I launched a fully virtual, single-owner practice—a bold leap that demanded both courage and trust in my abilities. Starting a law firm from scratch, with no physical office and a rapidly shifting market, was a significant gamble. But it was also the culmination of years of preparation, learning, and entrepreneurial drive.
That risk has transformed into one of the most rewarding decisions of my career. My firm not only succeeded—it grew, thrived, and validated the power of betting on oneself. I believe that meaningful growth rarely happens within comfort zones. True progress requires stepping into uncertainty, relying on your strengths, and trusting that your vision is worth pursuing.
Taking risks is part of my identity, my leadership, and my business philosophy. It has shaped the lawyer, entrepreneur, and person I am today.
