Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin Terrazas.
Hi Kevin, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey began with a strong foundation in military service and academics. I graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1999 with a B.S. in Chemistry/Life Science, ranking second in a class of 934. Following college, I completed several schools including the U.S. Army Ranger School in 2000.
My military career included serving in the 101st Airborne Division in Mosul, Iraq, from 2003-2004 as a Personnel/Logistics/Operations Officer. There, I managed supply and personnel operations for over 1800 soldiers and oversaw reconstruction projects. My service was recognized with honors including the Bronze Star Medal.
Following military service, I earned my law degree, with honors, from Harvard Law School. I began my career with a straightforward goal: to build a practice centered on clarity, responsiveness, and practical problem-solving. After gaining early experience at a large law firm and serving as a judicial clerk for the Hon. Priscilla Richman on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, I found myself increasingly drawn to helping clients navigate complex issues with a more personal, hands-on approach. Over time, that focus led me to launch my own firm, where I could shape the culture and the client experience directly. Since then, I’ve continued to grow the practice by combining disciplined legal work with an emphasis on accessibility and trust. Today, I’m fortunate to work with a wide range of clients, guiding them through disputes, negotiations, and long-term planning with the same commitment that drove me when I first entered the profession. Since 2016, I have helped grow a practice of 4 attorneys to 18 at the start of 2026.
Throughout my time I have been blessed to have a wide range of experiences, including collectively trying over 50 jury and bench trials and orally arguing over 20 appeals. I am one of fewer than 50 attorneys ever in Texas to have the distinction of being Board Certified in both Civil Trial & Civil Appellate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
But my legal work is only one side. I am thankful to have served as an Elder at Southwest Bible Church and to be active in the American Red Cross, as Past President of the Hispanic Bar Association of Austin, along with a number of other organizations.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Nothing in life is easy. Through many successes lies long hours, some intermittent failures, and fits and starts in the growth of a practice of law. Litigation is a very stressful practice and it has taken the work of my great teammates to work through the many struggles of the practice of law.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Terrazas PLLC is an Austin, Texas-based boutique law firm that focuses on high-stakes trials and appeals. The firm tries complex commercial cases in state and federal courts and arbitration tribunals across the country. It also represents clients in appellate courts, including up to the United States Supreme Court. Terrazas PLLC represents both plaintiffs and defendants in cases where millions of dollars are at stake, and where business reputations and operations are on the line. The firm emphasizes delivering the level of legal service found at large firms but with the focus, efficiency, and practicality of a boutique firm. The firm and its attorneys have received several recognitions, including being recognized by Thomson Reuters – Texas Super Lawyers, Chambers USA, and a number of other organizations. The firm is most proud of being able to deliver exceptionally high quality services to a wide range of people and industries with a focus on service.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I believe that God has guided my life and business, often in spite of myself. While those at the firm work tremendously hard and are excellent at what they do, we are well aware that every judge is different and one argument may be persuasive in one forum but not in another.
