Today we’d like to introduce you to MonaLisa Fanner.
Hi MonaLisa, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey into wellness didn’t start with a career choice, but with a childhood secret and the eventual, necessary realization that I could no longer hide the intuitive gifts that were inherited.
As a child, long before I knew the terms “clairvoyance”, “psychic” or “intuitive wellness.” I grew up seeing and communicating with spirits, assuming everyone could. It was my norm. I played with energy. I remember being able to focus this energy and, in a childlike way, I would playfully “shock” friends without ever touching them. At that age, I didn’t understand the magnitude of what I was doing, nor did I realize that this ability to focus and manipulate energy wasn’t a universal skill. As I got older, I quickly learned that not everyone was open to hearing about my gifts. People were often scared of the unknown which lead me to “hide” my gifts from others. I kept my abilities hidden for a very long time, feeling the pressure to “be normal.”
I pursued my formal training and became a Master’s Registered Nurse. Being around people professionally as a healer confirmed how profoundly empathic I was. As an RN Case Manager, it was natural for me to know where someone’s physical or emotional pain lay and how they were truly feeling. My work in Hospice nursing was deeply insightful, showing me the reality of the emotional and energetic burden people carry, which gave me a better, more precise understanding of what I was feeling when working with clients. This grounding in clinical care is invaluable today.
To bring a more rounded approach to my practice, I received my Master training in Usui and Sekhem-Seichim Reiki, Certificate in Energy Medicine, which encompasses both energy and sound therapies, and I recently graduated from the INN’s Chopra Life and Wellness Coach program (now being taught through Gaja Collective). This education brings my years as an RN Case Manager full circle. It provides the structured framework necessary to teach clients that they have their own answers within and should absolutely believe in themselves, combining my intuitive insights with evidence-based wellness principles.
My entire journey—from childhood gifts and professional validation to the hard-won battle of self-acceptance and formal wellness training—culminated in the founding of Haven Intuitive Wellness. Today, my work is rooted in providing grounded, compassionate, and precise energetic care and healing.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has absolutely been challenging, but those struggles ultimately forged the resilience that defines Haven Intuitive Wellness. The primary obstacle was dealing with shame and fear surrounding my own intuitive gifts and eventually, those of my children.
From childhood, I quickly learned that my clairvoyance and energetic abilities were not widely accepted, leading me to hide my authentic self for decades. This created a constant internal struggle as I balanced a professional career as an RN while suppressing a core part of my identity. The fear peaked when my oldest son began displaying his own gifts. Out of a deep desire to protect him, I initially tried to suppress our gifts even further, which created immense internal conflict.
Seeking clarity for his experiences, in 2009 I was inspired by the show Psychic Kids: Children of the Paranormal, featuring Chip Coffey. This led me to connect with Doris ‘Dusty’ Smith, a renowned paranormal investigator and author featured on the Discovery Channel’s A Haunting. Meeting her in person was a turning point; she explained that our son was a ‘Crystal Child’ and began helping me navigate the complexities of his abilities. However, because these concepts were still so new to the world at large, I continued to suppress our gifts for a time, balancing the need for understanding with the desire to keep our family safe from external judgment.
Then, in 2020 during COVID, my other two children’s gifts began to emerge, and our house wasn’t the same anymore. There was no more hiding from being our authentic selves. The struggle only ended when the COVID pandemic forced the issue, and I had to overcome the shame to seek the education and mentorship necessary to fully embrace and integrate my gifts, and those of my children. transforming them from a hidden burden into the professional foundation of my practice today.
To anyone who feels they must suppress their authentic self to fit into a professional or social box: please know that your unique gifts are not a burden, but a foundation for your purpose. My journey from a protective RN to the founder of Haven Intuitive Wellness taught me that true healing begins when we stop hiding. Whether you are a parent navigating your child’s emerging abilities or a professional seeking your own spiritual path, there is a grounded, safe space waiting for you. You don’t have to choose between science and spirit—you can stand firmly in both.”
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Haven Intuitive Wellness is family run business. We are an online sanctuary for those seeking a holistic approach to health and well-being. What truly sets our practice apart is the unique bridge we build between traditional healthcare and advanced energetic modalities. As a Master’s-prepared Registered Nurse, I bring a grounded, ethical, and clinical perspective to spiritual work that is often missing.
This foundation allows me to offer Sound Alchemy, a transformative practice using Gongs, Alchemy Crystal Bowls, and Tibetan Bowls. While many see sound as merely relaxing, I approach it as a tool for cellular-level restoration. The expansive vibrations of the gongs act as a ‘sound shower’ to release deep physical tension, while the precise frequencies of crystal bowls help align the body’s energy centers. By combining this ‘Sound Alchemy’ with my medical background and Spiritualist training, I provide a safe, high-trust environment where clients can experience profound healing that is as restorative for the body as it is for the soul.
At the core of our practice is the integration of two distinct yet complementary energy healing systems. Usui Reiki, the traditional Japanese practice founded by Mikao Usui, focuses on channeling universal life force energy to promote relaxation, reduce stress, and support the body’s natural physical and emotional healing. Sekhem-Seichim Reiki (SSR) builds upon this foundation by incorporating ancient Egyptian healing frequencies. While Usui Reiki is often described as a gentle, grounding “earth” energy, SSR is known for its higher vibrational intensity, working deeply at the soul level to clear dense energetic blockages and foster profound spiritual growth. By harnessing these dual transformative powers, I help restore balance and clarity to the body and mind. By harnessing the esoteric transformative power of Usui and Sekhem-Seichim Reiki and sound alchemy, I assist in helping to restore your body’s natural ability to heal and create balance. Experience reduced stress with improved physical and emotional well-being, and enhanced clarity. These services are provided remotely with you online or offline through distant practices. With advanced notice, and availability, I offer in person sessions at The Heart Room at Kindfolk Apothecary in Cedar Park.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I was lead to my mentorships through research. Once I took several classes with Cindy Kaza, Cindy introduced me to Spiritualism and Julie Genovese and I was able to connect with her for mentorship for my children. That’s how I found she offered mentorship classes. By taking classes at Arthur Findlay College, I was able to meet tutor John Johnson. I had seen Sarah Lemos-Aune on a show and looked her up and found she offered a 6 month mentorship program. Locally I found Sara Reeves because a friend suggested I get a reading from City Alchemist Witch Shop. I’ve had other mentors along the way which were suggested to me by friends.
I believe my community would not have grown had it not been for the trials and tribulations I went through along the way through these classes. I’ve met some amazing friends who live around the globe, that I will keep for the rest of my life, from taking these mentorships and other workshops. I love learning! So don’t be scared to look-up or contact someone you want to learn from. You may find they have offerings and you may find some do not.
The best advice I can give when networking or finding a mentor is to really stick with your intuition. I have had some mentors that do not align well with what I’m looking for with support and understanding. Learn to find someone who works well with you. Not everyone is a great mentor for you and they may be great for someone else. It doesn’t mean they are bad, just not your cup of tea and that is okay! Don’t settle just because someone you know likes the person.
Go with your instinct, your gut, your intuition. Its not going to steer you the wrong way unless you ignore it.
