An Inspired Chat with Michael Taylor of East Austin & Downtown

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Michael Taylor. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Michael, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
Integrity is the most important to me simply doing what’s right regardless of the circumstances, knowing you’re putting forth your part along your journey no matter what.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
The Boil ATX is a lifestyle brand and network for up and coming artists for exposure. While keeping an audience informed in the latest fashion, sports, & music. Over the years the brand has been apart of SXSW along with A3C and curating Live music showcases for rising artists in R&B & Hip Hop. Currently focused on rebranding & rebuilding a platform that gives artists & creatives exposure to make it to the next level. The idea of The Boil is simply the cream of the crop rising to the top of competition simply as if it was a rolling boil inspired by southern style crawfish boils. The focus is to curate more live shows & content leading up to SXSW 2026 & finding the next rising star to collaborate with & market.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who taught you the most about work?
I honestly feel I taught myself about work the most. From high school sports to college sports I’ve always been the underdog, undersized and over looked. My experiences in the Air Force as well taught me most importantly how to create great work ethics along with my athletic career. Being your biggest cheerleader in life often pushes you to do more and focus on the big picture.

When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
Honestly Covid Era showed me how strong I was mentally. Losing a job and career made me focus on my passion and gifts to make a better way for myself and family. Rebuilding & Rebranding as an entrepreneur has made me tap in to resilience more than ever in life.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
Im currently focused on recipe book and content to inspire others. As cooking is my therapy and my art, It’s also away of expressing myself and energy with others. My main goal right now is obtaining a food truck to share my gift.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Absolutely no applause is necessary when chasing your Dreams & Goals. No one believes in you until you WIN. So it’s imperative mentally to go hard & take No Days Off until you’re truly where you want to be in life on this journey.
