Today we’d like to introduce you to Tina Bunn.
Hi Tina, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I have always been an artist since I was maybe 3 years old. In first grade I got disciplined by my teacher because she thought I cheated and had my parents do my artwork. Although I’ve taught for over 20 years in the public schools, art is my true passion. And I love teaching other people to do art as well. God has been the guiding light in my life and but for his grace and mercy, I would be a prostitute selling drugs on the street right now, that’s me in a nutshell , l o l.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, a smooth road was not God’s plan for my life. I grew up in a dysfunctional family. My father was in the military 20 years and had PTSD, he ended up taking his life. I lost my sister, Suzette to domestic abuse and had struggles myself that God help me overcome. He has used me in a ministry at church to lead small groups. I count it a huge blessing that I get to be on the front row and see what God has done, not just in my life but in the lives of my friends and family in this ministry.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am very grateful to have had an opportunity to teach amazing young people for over 20 years. Teaching in a Title 1 school in Houston was very rewarding. But I’m happy to now have an art studio in my garage that I can use to continue to teach. I’m very passionate about clay sculpting, glass fusion, painting, and drawing and have done some pieces that I’m very proud of.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
None whatsoever! Although I’m extremely Irish and my ancestors come from County Cork, Ireland my faith is so strong that I do not believe in luck, good or bad. God directs my path, not any random thing in the universe, superstition, or otherwise.
