An Inspired Chat with Samantha Plasencia

Samantha Plasencia shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Samantha , a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What is a normal day like for you right now?
Right now I’m a super mom and taking time to do things with my family. We love music and attend performances for my daughter who plays the drums. We also go to a few car meets a month as a family which has been a fun/nostalgic hobby. Our son is a true car connoisseur.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Samantha Plasencia and I’m currently doing freelance work so I can spend more time at home with my family. I was working so much and away that I felt I was missing special moments so now I’m getting to enjoy more time with them.

My design career had been on a hiatus for a bit(which I didn’t mind) and I do runway shows here & there. The latest runway I showcased at was Austin Fashion Week 2025.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who taught you the most about work?
My parents were always hard workers in many different ways. My mom worked your typical 9-5 and always showed initiative and hard work. My dad was a mechanic and an artist so he was always pushing himself for new ideas. I also think growing up in the 90s made us use imagination to its wildest limits.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Everyone has been at that point where giving up seems the answer. For me, giving up has been a simple way to end dreams, goals, whatever you’d want to call it. Goals are achievable when continuous effort is given. That means, hearing the nos, the negative feedback, and not so good moments. For me, it’s almost fuel to be better at my craft.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My family and friends matter the most to me. I’m really passionate about everything I do and my family & friends have always been my biggest support.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I don’t think I would stop doing anything but actually DOING more traveling to see more of the world. Our next big trip will hopefully be Tokyo!
