Hi Gerally and Stefani, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Seven months ago, we—Gerally and Stefani Ortega—felt called to create something more than just a store. We envisioned a place where faith and community come together: a space where people can shop, donate, and experience the presence of God all at the same time. Our mission is to provide a welcoming environment where visitors can hear the Word of the Lord while they browse, and where donated items can be offered back to the community at affordable prices.
As we searched for the right opportunity, we were blessed with more than we imagined—a two-for-one special that allowed us to expand our vision even further. Alongside our resale shop, we are proud to open Ortega Barbershop, right next door. This new venture allows us to continue serving our community, building connections, and sharing our faith in another meaningful way.
With God, all things are possible. Everything we do is rooted in our love for Him and our desire to be a blessing to others. Our businesses are more than storefronts—they are ministries dedicated to serving, uplifting, and giving back to the community through faith and fellowship.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Obstacles and challenges are a part of every journey. We truly believe that as you go through it, you grow through it. There were moments when the path felt uncertain, but time and time again, life—and our faith—made a way.
Starting our resale shop meant building everything from the ground up. We had to gather inventory through donations, organize and price items, and earn the trust of the community. There were days when donations were slow, expenses felt heavy, and we wondered how we would keep the shelves full. Marketing the store, managing overhead costs, and creating a welcoming atmosphere all required patience, consistency, and prayer.
Opening Ortega Barbershop next door brought its own set of challenges. From securing equipment and barber chairs to obtaining licenses and building a loyal clientele, every step required dedication. Establishing a reputation in a competitive industry takes time, hard work, and strong customer relationships. There were long days of preparation, planning, and trusting that the right customers would walk through our doors.
Through every obstacle—financial pressures, slow seasons, unexpected setbacks—we leaned on our faith. Each challenge strengthened us, sharpened our vision, and reminded us why we started. Growth does not come without resistance, but we are grateful for every lesson along the way. With perseverance, community support, and God at the center, we continue moving forward—stronger, wiser, and more determined than ever.
