Hi Emily, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Sunshine Fence Texas officially started in 2016, but our experience in fencing goes back much further. My team brings over 17 years of experience in the fencing industry. What began as hard work and long days in the field eventually grew into a business built around family, dedication, and serving our community.
From the beginning, I have always been very hands-on with the company. I coordinate all of our projects and make sure I’m present at every job site to ensure everything runs smoothly and that our customers are taken care of. Being directly involved allows me to make sure the work reflects the quality and care we believe in.
Sunshine Fence is truly a family operation. My team is made up of family members who have years of experience in fencing, and today even my teenage son is part of the team.
The name Sunshine Fence also comes from a very personal place. In the early years, we would start jobs at sunrise and often finish just before sunset. Many of the pictures we took of our finished fences had sunlight shining across them. At the same time, when my children were younger, they loved the song “You Are My Sunshine” as they are the light in our lives. Those moments of family and long days working in the Texas sun inspired the name Sunshine Fence.
Today, we proudly serve Austin, Bastrop, Kyle, Leander, Georgetown, and surrounding communities, specializing in privacy fences while also installing all types of fencing, custom gates, and fence staining. What started as hard work and determination has grown into a business built on family, experience, and a commitment to doing the job right.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like most small businesses, the journey has not always been a smooth road. Starting and growing a company takes a lot of persistence, especially in an industry that requires long hours, physical work, and constant problem solving. In the early years, there were many long days that started before sunrise and ended past sunset while we worked to build both our reputation and our customer base. We still have those long days regularly.
Balancing business ownership with being a parent has also been part of that journey. Raising children while building a company comes with its own set of challenges, but it has also been one of my greatest motivations to keep pushing forward.
One of the more personal challenges has been navigating life and growth opportunities for my son, who is on the autism spectrum. As a parent, you always want to make sure your children have the opportunity to grow, develop confidence, become self-sufficient and find their strengths. Being able to involve him in the business closely has allowed him to learn skills, gain responsibility, and prove that he is capable of much more than popular limited beliefs. The exposure has been amazing for him. Watching him work alongside us, and take pride in what he does has been one of the greatest rewards of building this business.
Like any business owner, there have been obstacles along the way, but each challenge has helped us grow stronger as a family and as a company. Those experiences have shaped Sunshine Fence into the hardworking, family-driven business it is today.

What I’m most proud of about our brand is that it represents family, high quality work, and perseverance.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
What makes me happiest is seeing the growth of my family and the business we’ve built together. Watching something that started with hard work and long days turn into a company that serves our community is highly rewarding.
One of the most meaningful things for me has been being able to give my team opportunities to grow through the business. Seeing my team gain confidence, expand their skills and creativity, and push beyond the limits has been especially fulfilling.
I’m also happy knowing that the work we do helps families feel more secure and comfortable in their homes. Being able to build something with my family while helping others at the same time is what truly makes me proud of what we do.
Seeing the smiles on our customers’ faces and their gratitude at the end of every project, is what reminds us why we do this work and motivate us to keep going!
