Inspiring Conversations with Summer Leach of SUMthing Social

Today we’d like to introduce you to Summer Leach.

Hi Summer , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was working a very intense corporate job and was very unhappy. I was good to a desk for over 8 hours, had a really discouraging manager who decided to bully me instead of uplifting me and being a mentor. I was a shell of the sweet sunny summer self I used to be.

I had always done social media for myself but never for another business. After feeling at my lowest, I decided to walk down to my favorite neighborhood bar. It was then I asked the owner how he would feel if I took over the social media. I assured him the page had so much potential and gave him some of my ideas. Fast forward 2 years later, not only have I doubled their business, but I’ve gained over 6 other clients as well

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not. I was the brokers I had ever been. When you start your own business, you only have yourself. I was living paycheck to paycheck but I chose happiness over money and I’m so glad I did

As you know, we’re big fans of SUMthing Social . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I specialize in social media marketing which has now turned into ask booking parties/ being an organizer which I really love. I’m hosting my very first engagement party and couldn’t be more excited about it!

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I hope to continue to add new local clients in Manhattan, make their business grow, organize events within spaces that create lasting memories and most importantly, continue to make connection with people that end up feeling like family
