Meet Gregory Collier of Collier’s Fitness Xpress

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gregory Collier.

Hi Gregory, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been part of the fitness industry for more than 35 years, and my journey really began in the 1980s during my time in the Army, where I served as the Weight Control NCOIC. That experience sparked a lifelong passion for health, strength, and discipline.

In the early 1990s, I transitioned into competitive bodybuilding, which deepened my commitment to the industry and introduced me to the broader world of fitness. By 1994, I became involved in the supplement side of the business, recognizing how closely it aligns with performance and physique goals. That eventually led me into gym ownership in 2003, when I co‑owned my first facility.

I earned my ACE (American Council on Exercise) certification in 2004 and began personal training shortly after, later expanding my credentials with a NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine) certification in 2012. Since then, I’ve worked continuously with clients, evolving alongside the changing needs of the fitness community.

I’ve owned and operated my current facility, Collier’s Fitness Xpress, independently since 2010. It’s a smaller, more personal gym environment—something I’ve intentionally created to make people feel comfortable, especially veterans who may not feel at ease in larger, more commercial settings. Having that connection to military service, it’s important to me to provide a space where they feel understood, supported, and motivated.

Early in my career, many of my clients were focused on bodybuilding competitions and physique goals. Over time, that focus has shifted significantly toward overall health, quality of life, and longevity. Today, I take pride in working with a diverse range of individuals—from those preparing for military service, both physically and mentally, to high school and collegiate athletes striving to reach peak performance.

I’m also especially passionate about helping clients overcome challenges. My current clientele includes individuals recovering from strokes, those who are visually impaired, and older adults working to maintain independence through improved functional movement. Being able to support people at every stage of life—and help them move better, feel stronger, and live healthier—is what continues to drive my work every day.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As a business owner, there are always challenges—whether it’s maintaining membership or navigating the unpredictable costs that come with running a business. One of the most significant challenges I faced was during the COVID‑19 pandemic in 2020. Like many in the industry, I had to adapt quickly, and fortunately, technology allowed me to pivot my services to an online format using platforms like Zoom so I could continue supporting my clients.

Another defining moment came in 2025, when I experienced a serious health scare that resulted in a 21‑day hospital stay. It was a humbling experience that gave me a renewed perspective. I truly believe that my lifelong commitment to health and fitness played a critical role in helping me get through that time and come out stronger on the other side.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Collier’s Fitness Xpress?
What sets my business apart is the environment. Unlike large commercial gyms, Collier’s Fitness Xpress is intentionally a smaller, more personal space. It’s designed to make people feel comfortable and supported—especially veterans, who often appreciate a setting that feels familiar, focused, and respectful of their background. That connection to service is something I take seriously, and it shapes the culture of the gym every day.
While I began my career working with competitive bodybuilders, my focus has evolved into helping people achieve sustainable health, functional movement, and longevity. Today, I specialize in working with a diverse range of clients, including individuals preparing for military service, student athletes, and those facing unique physical challenges—such as stroke recovery, vision impairment, or age‑related mobility concerns. I pride myself on meeting people where they are and helping them move forward safely and confidently.

What I’m most proud of, from a brand perspective, is the trust I’ve built over the years. Many of my clients have been with me long‑term, and that speaks to the relationships and results we’ve created together. This isn’t a one‑size‑fits‑all approach to fitness—every program is tailored, intentional, and rooted in experience.
At its core, my brand represents resilience, adaptability, and a lifelong commitment to health. From navigating the challenges of the COVID‑19 pandemic by moving to virtual training, to overcoming my own personal health scare, I bring both professional expertise and personal perspective into everything I do.

Online training & nutrition support (case-by-case):
I also offer a flexible online platform that allows me to work with clients remotely. This includes virtual training sessions as well as customized nutrition guidance, tailored to individual goals and needs.

What I want readers to know is simple: Collier’s Fitness Xpress is a place where people are supported, challenged, and empowered—no matter their starting point. Whether someone is training for a goal, recovering from a setback, or simply trying to live a healthier, more independent life, we’re here to help them succeed.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Fitness is not optional—it’s essential. How you care for your body directly influences not only your quality of life, but your longevity as well. I often compare the body to a vehicle: if you want it to perform well and last for years, you have to consistently maintain it.

Your body requires the same level of attention. Proper care—through movement, nutrition, and consistency—is what keeps it running efficiently over time. Ultimately, your body is your vehicle, and how you treat it will determine how well it carries you through life.
