Meet Rony Colindres of SoCo Muffler, Radiator & Auto Repair

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rony Colindres.

Hi Rony, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I came to this country at a young age originally from Honduras, looking for the American dream. With no knowledge about what I was getting myself into and not knowing the language. I worked for 12 years at a muffler shop, learned as much as I could, and waited for the right opportunity to open up my own business. I met Fernando, my business partner, and 14 years later here we are at SoCo Mufflers and Radiator.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Absolutely not easy , starting with getting permits and registering the business was very hard due to my legal status. Also, being a new business, we didn’t have enough customers in the beginning so there were days we had to work until midnight to compensate for those slower days where we had no customers at all.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We specialize in mufflers and radiators. What makes us different from others is that we do custom exhaust when most places only do direct fit installations. On the radiator side, if I am not mistaken, I think we are the last radiator shop in Austin that actually repairs and rebuilds radiators, not just replace them.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Playing soccer with my friends in the neighborhood soccer field when I was in middle school
