Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Woodruff Booth.
Hi Christina, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have a common maybe not so common story. I didn’t have a very stable upbringing as my dad, which I didn’t know till later in life, was bipolar and schizophrenic so my life could be very unstable, scary and abusive. Don’t get me wrong, I had a lot of great memories but I also have some that are not so great. This actually led me eventually on the path of drugs and alcohol as this kind of upbringing does for so many. I had stopped doing harder drugs a long time ago but alcohol was kind of always there and available. In 2020 during COVID, being locked up at home really hit me hard and I started drinking excessively to the point where my health was severely declining. I ended up going to a drug and alcohol rehab called Narconon and it completely changed my life and was a turning point.
I had faced a lot in life and once I hit that turning point, I knew I would never look back. I finally felt for the first time that I could do things with my life that I only believed I was capable of but was never in a position where I could actually do anything with what I thought I was capable of. Despite everything I had endured in life, I always was able to keep a positive attitude and hope, even in the worst of times. I know what it’s like to dream of happiness and change and I wanted to be able to help people find these things for themselves too.
I have always been the person who looked after children and decided to start a caregiving business and became a nanny which has allowed me to not only help bring happiness into peoples homes, but actually also travel to different places with families and it’s been truly a blessing. To get to be a part of beautiful, growing families lives have brought me so much joy as well as all the families that I get the privilege to be with.
As much as I love being with kids and families, I decided to branch out into travel. I love to help people and any opportunity I can get to make an experience that can be a great memory for someone is something that I’ve always loved to do so travel has been something I’ve thought about for a long time. Getting to help someone, or many, create an experience that they will never forget has so much value to me. The world is so full of beauty and beautiful people that is just waiting to be experienced. This is what I enjoy so much bringing to the table for people. I only dreamed about going to places that I’ve helped people get to and in the process, I get to learn so much about the world and what’s out there through being a travel agent and in a way, get to live vicariously through my work which is a big plus for me.
I’m also in the process of opening a Narconon here in Texas which is the same place I went to when I needed help so I’m paying if forward. I know how many people are suffering out there from addiction all over the world so I want to do my part and be a part of the solution, not the problem. It follows along the lines of my purpose to help people and not only bring happiness back to the lives of individuals suffering from addiction but also their loved ones.
There are so many things I think that we are all capable of doing, yet we don’t do enough about it. Who says you have to only do one thing. I think that challenging yourself and seeing what you’re made of is something that we can all do and find that we can surprise ourselves in the best way. I want to encourage people to find not just one passion, but many and go out into the world and change it in their own way.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I spoke about the things I do already as again, I didn’t know this would be on the questions. I am an entrepreneur. I have a nanny business and I actually can combine that with being a travel agent. I specialize in weddings, honeymoons and family vacations. This can cross over into nanny work as if someone is needing child care on vacation, I can not only plan and customize your trip but can also provide child care if requested as I am also a traveling nanny. It’s a very unique service that no one else out there provides.
I can also create any sort of custom trip down to diner reservations to hidden gems in the area and whatever else is asked or not asked. I take pride in how detail oriented I am and will go above and beyond to make sure your trip is as smooth and worry free as possible. I even provide a printed copy of the important documents such as tickets, confirmation numbers as well as the trip itinerary in the off chance that something electronic goes wrong, and believe me it has, so that my clients will always have a fall back to get onto their plane, their hotel or anywhere they will need to be for their itinerary.
When it comes to opening my Narconon, I have been the driving force to get the center open in Texas. I have done everything from property searching and donors for purchasing the property, learned about non-profit organizations and how to establish them, talking with people about joining staff, to the remodeling and building on the property. Me being detailed oriented is something that has really help me so much in this process.
What I’m most proud of is that everything that I set out to do, I give it my all and never give up. I am an artist at heart so when I am creating on something, it becomes my baby, so to speak, so I could never give up on what I start. As you know now, life hasn’t always been easy for me but I don’t use that as an excuse but rather fuel. This is something that sets me apart from others because that fuel is my life purpose. I don’t just do things for a paycheck or because I am told I have to by some society consideration. There is purpose in everything that I do which is why my care factor is beyond what anyone else can bring to the table.
What makes you happy?
There are many things that make me happy. Helping people and bringing them happiness, getting to be with my absolutely amazing husband, being around children and singing and creating music are at the top of my list though. All of things bring life into my life and as an artist, this is something I seek out. Life.
