Exploring Life & Business with Edwin Travis of Travis Chiropractic Center

Today we’d like to introduce you to Edwin Travis.

Hi Edwin, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I had decided to get out of the US Air Force as a Captain and was thinking about what to do next. I’d been to Doctors of Chiropractic most of my life and was interested in helping people in natural ways. Therefore, I decided to use my GI Bill benefits for tuition at Texas Chiropractic College.

I planned to come back to the same town I was living in while in the Air Force so just rented out our house while at school. Eventually sold it while buying a house near school, then sold that to move back to Bastrop, TX and open my practice in 1987.

During practice I attended many different seminars and courses and achieved several different certifications. I was also working as a sports official during school and practice eventually just being a football referee. The interest in sports led me to become trained as a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP). Of course that led to the need for proper nutrition for athletes for better performance so years of training later became a certified Applied Clinical Nutritionist (ACN). Along the way also got trained on animal “chiropractic” with a Certified Veterinary Chropractitioner (CVCP).

A recent meta-analysis by the American Medical Association came to the conclusion that the new number one killer of Americans is our processed food Standard American Diet (SAD)!

Continued Nutritional studies have reinforced the need for better nutritional support for my patients and the real lack of the “Dark Matter of Nutrition” in our food supply and commercial supplement industry. Therefore, I sought out training on how to find out just what each individual person needed in their nutritional profile.

Each person is unique and most of the supplements out there are pure garbage and actually do us more harm than good. Techniques to customize nutrients to patients includes Acoustic Cardiograph, Total Body Modification, Nutrition Response Testing and others. Then to help the body utilize those even better I use the PRO VX Laser, Softwave, PEMF and other modalities.

Of course, without an optimally functioning nervous system conveying all these messages of what’s happening and what it can and can’t use efficiently, Chiropractic neurology becomes paramount as the primary treatment before anything else. Without a clear recipe of instructions, it doesn’t matter what ingredients you have or not.

Helping people be healthier has a priority system we have to follow or we’re just shooting in the dark.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It looks smoother looking back, but each step had its own challenges. Life always has struggles and we would never achieve better things without them.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
God/Jesus, wife & family, patients. (J.O.Y.)
