Meet Kylee Wine of Bluebonnet Mahj Co

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kylee Wine.

Hi Kylee, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
For most of my adult life, I’ve worn a lot of hats. I’m a mom, a creative, a community-builder, and someone who’s always been drawn to connection and entrepreneurship. Before real estate, I spent years in social media marketing and content creation, helping businesses grow their brands online through storytelling and authentic connection. That experience taught me how powerful relationships, trust, and community really are, which ended up becoming the foundation for everything I do now.

My path into real estate came during what I jokingly call my “midlife rebrand.” My family relocated from Washington to Texas, and I found myself in a season of reinvention. I became fascinated with the fast growth happening in the North Austin area, especially communities like Liberty Hill, Georgetown, and Leander. I realized I didn’t just love beautiful homes, I loved helping people envision a lifestyle and a future. Real estate felt like the perfect combination of strategy, creativity, marketing, and people.

Around the same time, a few friends and I started Bluebonnet Mahj Co after noticing how much people were craving genuine connection outside of screens and busy schedules. What started as casual Mahjong nights quickly grew into a full community-focused business hosting beginner Mahjong classes, themed events, open play nights, and private gatherings across the North Austin area. We built the company around the idea that Mahjong is more than a game. It’s a reason to gather, slow down, laugh, and create friendships.

Real estate and Mahjong actually complement each other perfectly. Both businesses are rooted in relationships, hospitality, and bringing people together. Whether I’m helping someone buy a home or teaching a room full of people how to play Mahjong for the first time, my favorite part is creating an experience where people feel welcomed, comfortable, and connected.

I’m still very much in the building phase of both businesses, which honestly makes this season exciting. I’m learning constantly, meeting incredible people, and creating a career that feels aligned with who I am instead of who I thought I was supposed to be.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Both real estate and building Bluebonnet Mahj Co have pushed me far outside my comfort zone, especially starting over in a new state and stepping into new industries later in life.

One of the biggest challenges has been learning to build businesses while actively figuring things out in real time. Real estate requires consistency, confidence, and relationship-building, and there have definitely been moments of self-doubt while trying to establish myself. With Mahjong, we had to learn everything from event planning and marketing to operations and scaling a business while still keeping the community-focused heart behind it.

At the same time, those challenges have probably been the most rewarding part. I’ve learned that growth usually comes from saying yes before you feel fully ready and trusting yourself to figure it out along the way. It’s scary, but I’m here for it.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Bluebonnet Mahj Co is a community-focused Mahjong company based in the North Austin area that was created to make Mahjong approachable, social, and genuinely fun for everyone, especially beginners. We host classes, themed events, open play nights, private events, and collaborations with local businesses throughout places like Liberty Hill, Georgetown, Cedar Park, and Leander.

What really sets us apart is the experience and atmosphere we create. We wanted to remove the intimidation factor that sometimes comes with learning Mahjong and instead build something warm, welcoming, and beautifully curated. We are very hands on with our classes and like to have one instructor per table for optimal guidance and learning. Whether someone has never touched a Mahjong tile before or already plays regularly, we want them to feel comfortable pulling up a chair.

I think what I’m most proud of is how quickly it has turned into a real community. We’ve watched complete strangers come to events alone and leave with friendships, standing game nights, and connections outside of Mahjong. In a world where so much interaction happens online, it’s been really meaningful to create something that gets people together in person again.

We’ve also had a lot of fun putting our own spin on things through themed events, creative branding, and partnerships with local venues and businesses. At the end of the day, though, the heart of the brand is simple: slowing down, connecting, laughing, and creating spaces where people feel included.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Absolutely. Bluebonnet Mahj Co would not exist without the incredible women I built it alongside. My business partners, Brenna Escochea, Emily Zink, and Melissa Yeilding, each brought different strengths, ideas, and energy to the table, and I think that collaboration is a huge part of why the company grew so quickly. We all genuinely care about creating a welcoming experience and community, and that shared vision has made all the difference.

I also have to give credit to the people who showed up early and supported us before we fully knew what we were doing. Friends who attended our first events, local businesses and venues that partnered with us, and the women in our community who continued inviting friends and spreading the word played a massive role in our growth.

On the real estate side, mentorship has also been incredibly important. Starting in a brand-new industry can feel overwhelming, and having supportive brokers, experienced agents, and people willing to answer questions and encourage me has helped me gain confidence much faster. My brokerage Pure Realty has been the most supportive environment to learn and feel encouraged. My mentor Rebecca Vita has so much knowledge and patience and I will be forever grateful to have her for support during my early days.

Honestly, one of the biggest things I’ve learned is that businesses may start with an idea, but they grow because of people. Community and relationships have been at the center of everything I’ve built.
