Conversations with LaClea Miles

Today we’d like to introduce you to LaClea Miles.

LaClea, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am LaClea Miles, and I grew up in Austin, Texas. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Texas State University in 2024. Growing up, I knew from a very young age that I wanted to go to college and become a teacher. I grew up in a large family with many younger cousins, who inspired my passion for working with children. It fuels my passion for teaching every day. I watch the students grow academically and as individuals. I also developed a passion for fashion as a young girl. I was inspired by the fashion and style of my Bratz and Barbie dolls and enjoyed showing off my own style and posing for any camera. Texas State allowed me the opportunity to join a magazine organization, “LEWK”. Created by fellow creative students. Here is where I got to dip my toes in, grow my love for, and gain industry knowledge and modeling techniques that have since led to continuing my modeling journey and career in the Austin and surrounding areas.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not always been a smooth road, but the journey has been worth it. As a model in this industry, one of the first things you learn is that not every job will book you, and that’s okay. You will hear a lot of yeses and nos, whether from castings or agencies. There have been modeling jobs that did not book me and others that did. What keeps me grounded is focusing on and being proud of those yeses and celebrating those wins, while also balancing my responsibilities as a teacher. Balancing both passions is challenging and requires a lot of time, mentally and physically, but the love and fulfillment they bring me makes it all worth it. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I balance being both a teacher and a model. I am currently based in Austin as a fashion model, with experience in runway, print, editorial, commercial, fitness, and acting. One of my favorite parts of the past two years has been meeting and working with incredible designers and brands, as well as networking and connecting with a community of creatives from all different areas. Recently this month I’ve booked two fashion shows, Fiesta Fashion Show presented by Muses Runway International and in ATX Fashion Week for the second year in a row. Showcasing incredible designs from local designers.
As a teacher, I teach 2nd grade in Austin ISD. Every day, I get to teach my students new skills and create individualized plans to help them continue to grow. Being able to teach children not only academically, but also socially and emotionally while building strong bonds and lasting memories, is exactly why I love what I do.
