Check Out Autumn Spencer’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Autumn Spencer.

Hi Autumn, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey in healthcare started on the med-surg floor of a large hospital in Austin, where I worked as a clinical assistant. That experience introduced me to surgical technology, and through that work, I discovered Physician Associates — or PAs. I watched how they were closing critical gaps in healthcare access, and I knew I wanted to be part of that.

Getting into PA school is no small feat. The program I applied to had over 3,000 applicants competing for fewer than 70 spots. I was one of them — and I got in.

I launched my career in neurosurgery trauma, working alongside some of the top neurosurgeons in the country. That path led naturally into leadership, and I went on to build and lead the APP development structure — for both Physician Associates and Nurse Practitioners — at the second largest nonprofit healthcare organization in the United States. I helped construct a Level 2 trauma center’s 24-hour service line, and I’m proud that we’ve consistently earned some of the highest safety scores in our region.

Then COVID hit. Like so many healthcare workers, I experienced profound burnout. After eleven years of practicing in high-acuity settings, I was never seeing anyone on a good day. Every patient was frightened, and many were facing the worst moments of their lives. I loved that work deeply — but I needed to find joy in medicine again.

That brought me to aesthetics. And I’ll be honest — the industry has a real safety problem where not all “injectors” are medical professionals much less overseen by licensed medical providers. Add in the very real threat of black market product, and the risks are significant. Price should never be your first question when choosing an injector — your safety should be, followed by results.

I take that responsibility seriously. I attend multiple anatomy cadaver labs every year alongside continuous education, and I’m now on the clinical faculty at Skin Clique, where I train injectors nationwide on the safety and placement of toxin and filler. We provide five times the national average of education, including Continuing Medical Education credit.

But what truly sets my practice apart is how I care for patients. My initial consultation is a full hour. We do a comprehensive skin health assessment and go through what I lovingly call your ‘skincare graveyard’ — everything you’ve tried that may be helping or quietly harming your skin. Skincare is not one-size-fits-all. What works for a genetically-blessed influencer may be actively damaging to you.

Healthy skin is the foundation for everything; for the tox, dermal fillers, microneedling, and collagen-restoration treatments that follow. Watching those transformations and seeing patients feel better about the person looking back at them in the mirror has genuinely given me joy in medicine again. And that’s exactly why I’m here.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Honestly? No — and I think that’s worth talking about.

The hardest chapter was COVID. The healthcare system was already strained, and the pandemic exposed just how broken it really is — not only for patients who can’t get the access or time they deserve, but for the providers who genuinely want to give it to them. There are entire parts of this state where people simply do not have access to adequate medical care. And when you watch turf wars and systemic barriers get in the way of people receiving help, it’s deeply disheartening.

That experience shaped everything about how I practice today. I refused to recreate what frustrated me about the system.

In my practice, you receive concierge-level care. That means you have my direct line — so if a question comes up between appointments, you’re never left searching for answers or waiting on a callback queue. I don’t book back-to-back appointments because I refuse to rush through your time. When you’re with me, we actually talk. We dig into how you’re feeling about the person looking back at you in the mirror — and that conversation matters as much as anything else we do.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
What I’ve built is less of a traditional aesthetics practice and more of a whole-person wellness experience — and I think that’s what sets me apart.

Most people come in thinking they want a little tox or filler. And maybe they do. But what I’ve found is that true transformation goes much deeper than a single treatment. My practice spans skin health and skincare, full facial balancing, microneedling with PDGF for advanced skin rejuvenation, biostimulation, hair restoration and loss prevention, medical weight loss, and hormone replacement therapy. We address the whole picture — because how you look and how you feel are deeply connected.

The transformation I’m most proud of? A mother of five. She came to me wanting to address her stretch marks — something she’d carried quietly for years. Over the course of her microneedling sessions, the improvement was so significant that her husband noticed before she even said a word. She was genuinely grateful, and honestly, that feeling never gets old.

But here’s what I always tell my patients as I learned this from one of my colleagues: I can’t clean the canvas with a needle. She did her part. She committed to a solid skin health regimen, and that’s what allowed us to get to those results together. That partnership is everything. The most beautiful outcomes happen when we’re both invested.

What sets me apart is the combination of clinical depth and genuine time. My background in neurosurgery, trauma and healthcare leadership means I bring a level of medical rigor to aesthetics that isn’t always present in this space. I understand anatomy, I understand risk, and I take both seriously. But I also understand that feeling truly cared for requires time — and I protect that time fiercely. You will never feel rushed, dismissed, or like a number in my practice.

I treat you like I’d want someone to treat my own family.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
There are so many ways, and honestly this is one of my favorite topics!

First — come to an event. I love being hosted for “sip and learn” evenings where we talk skin health in a way that’s actually fun. No intimidating medical jargon, no pressure — just good conversation, a few laughs, and real education that people walk away using. These events come with special pricing on tox and can be hosted at The Beauty Bar by Haute in Hutto, my location in NW Austin, or — and this is something I’m passionate about — in your space. I love partnering with small businesses, bringing my events into their world and inviting them as vendors so we’re building each other up at the same time.

The easiest first step is connecting with me directly on Instagram at @autumnspencer_pa. That’s where I’m most active and most reachable.

And if you just want to support me? Word of mouth is everything. Refer a friend to my practice and you’ll receive $100 credited to your own account toward any treatment. Bring ten friends and that’s $1,000 to invest in yourself. Talk positively about me in rooms I’m not in — that is genuinely the greatest gift you can give a small practice. Engage with my content, share my posts, and help me reach the people who need to find me.

We grow together. That’s always been my philosophy.
