Rising Stars: Meet Sarah Eis of Austin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Eis.

Hi Sarah, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I founded Exceptional Child 360 after spending nearly two decades working in public education as a school psychologist and behavior analyst. Throughout my career, I worked closely with children with a wide range of needs (including autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, emotional and behavioral challenges, and developmental delays) and I saw firsthand how overwhelmed many parents felt trying to navigate school systems, therapies, evaluations, and conflicting professional advice.

Over time, I realized that many families needed more than just support within the school setting. They needed someone who could help connect all the pieces (home, school, behavior, emotional regulation, learning, advocacy, and everyday parenting challenges) in a practical and compassionate way. That realization ultimately led me to start Exceptional Child 360.

What makes my approach unique is that I bring together multiple areas of expertise. I’m a Nationally Certified School Psychologist and Board Certified Behavior Analyst, but I also have extensive experience with special education law, child development, evaluations, behavior intervention planning, and collaborative problem-solving across disciplines. I’ve worked alongside speech therapists, occupational therapists, educators, and medical professionals, which has given me a broad perspective on how to support the “whole child,” not just one piece of the puzzle.

At the same time, I’m also a mom myself, and that personal experience deeply shapes the way I work with families. I understand the emotional side of parenting and how exhausting it can feel when you’re constantly trying to figure out what your child needs and how to help them thrive.

Today, Exceptional Child 360 provides multidisciplinary support services for families, including parent coaching, behavioral and emotional support planning, educational advocacy, consultations, and collaborative guidance for children with unique learning or developmental needs. My goal has always been to help parents feel less alone, more empowered, and more confident in supporting their children, while creating practical strategies that truly work in real life.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No- there have been a lot of learning curves, uncertainty and growing pains. Transitioning into entrepreneurship required a huge mindset shift. Suddenly I wasn’t just a clinician and consultant, I also had to learn marketing, business strategy, networking, branding, pricing, contracts, tech systems, and all the behind-the-scenes aspects of running a company that nobody really prepares you for.

There have also been challenges in carving out a space that feels different from traditional models. Exceptional Child 360 was built around the idea of “full-circle support” — helping families bridge home, school, emotional regulation, behavior, advocacy, and skill-building in a collaborative way. That multidisciplinary approach doesn’t always fit neatly into one box, so part of the process has been helping people understand exactly what we do and why that whole-child perspective matters.

I also think that in the beginning, I said yes to almost everything because I genuinely wanted to help and was still figuring out where my strengths and passions fit best. Over time, I’ve become much more intentional about how I use my time and energy — focusing on the areas where I can make the biggest impact while staying aligned with my values and the kind of support I most want to provide to families.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
At Exceptional Child 360, I provide multidisciplinary support for families of children with learning, behavioral, emotional, developmental, and school-related challenges. My work combines the perspectives of a school psychologist, behavior analyst, and educational advocate to help families navigate the “big picture” — not just one isolated piece of a child’s needs. I specialize in areas like emotional regulation, behavior support, autism, ADHD, school collaboration, parent coaching, and helping families better understand and support their child both at home and at school.

I think I’m best known for taking a very practical, collaborative, and compassionate approach. Families often tell me they appreciate that I can take complex information and make it feel understandable and actionable, while still helping them feel supported rather than judged. My goal is never just to “fix behaviors,” but to help adults better understand what may be driving them and build strategies that strengthen relationships, emotional safety, and long-term success.

What sets me apart is the combination of backgrounds I bring together. I have extensive experience in psychology, behavior analysis, education systems, and special education processes, which allows me to look at situations from multiple angles rather than through a single lens. I also try very hard to bridge the gap between professionals and parents, because families are often overwhelmed by fragmented systems and conflicting advice.

What I’m most proud of is the trust families place in me during some of their most vulnerable moments. Seeing parents go from feeling confused and defeated to feeling empowered, informed, and hopeful again is incredibly meaningful to me. I’m also proud that Exceptional Child 360 has grown largely through word of mouth and relationships, which tells me that the work is truly making a difference in people’s lives.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
Honestly, one of my biggest resources has been the relationships and connections I’ve built with other professionals in related fields. I learn a tremendous amount through collaboration and conversations with educators, therapists, psychologists, physicians, behavior analysts, and other specialists who all bring different perspectives and expertise to the table. I also work with an online business coach, which has been incredibly helpful as I’ve learned to navigate the entrepreneurship side of running Exceptional Child 360.

Beyond that, I’m naturally someone who does a lot of independent research and continuous learning. I spend a significant amount of time reading articles, attending trainings, listening to podcasts, and staying current on topics related to child development, emotional regulation, behavior, education, and business growth. Because my field is constantly evolving, I think curiosity and a willingness to keep learning are some of the most valuable resources anyone can have.
