Hi Julia, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Julia Garcia, but most people know me as Jewels. I am the owner of Blessed Beauty & Skin in Austin, Texas.
My journey into the beauty industry started long before I ever opened a treatment room. For many years, I struggled with self-confidence and spent a lot of time focusing on my flaws instead of recognizing my worth. Like many people, I believed confidence was something you earned once you looked a certain way or achieved certain goals. Over time, I realized that true confidence comes from accepting who you are and understanding that you were created with purpose.
My faith played a huge role in that transformation. As I grew closer to God, I began to understand that I didn’t need to be anyone other than who He created me to be. That realization changed the way I saw myself, and it also changed the way I wanted to serve others.
I started Blessed Beauty & Skin because I wanted to help people experience that same confidence for themselves. While I love skincare, waxing, teeth whitening, and helping clients achieve their beauty goals, what matters most to me is how they feel when they leave. My goal is never to convince someone they need fixing—it’s to help them feel empowered, cared for, and confident in the skin they’re already in.
Today, I specialize in customized facials, full-body waxing, cosmetic teeth whitening, and advanced skin analysis. Every treatment is tailored to the individual because no two people are the same. I believe education, personalized care, and genuine connection are just as important as the services themselves.
One of my favorite parts of this career is the relationships I’ve built. Many clients walk through my door as strangers and leave feeling like friends. We laugh, share stories, celebrate victories, and sometimes even help each other through difficult seasons of life. Creating a space where people feel comfortable, supported, and confident is what drives me every day.
Looking back, I am incredibly grateful for this journey. Blessed Beauty & Skin is more than a business to me—it’s an opportunity to serve others, encourage confidence, and remind people that beauty isn’t about perfection. It’s about learning to love yourself, embrace who you are, and let that confidence shine from the inside out.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I think that’s what has made the journey so meaningful.
One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced has been overcoming self-doubt. Starting and growing a business requires you to put yourself out there every day, and there were times when I questioned whether I was good enough, experienced enough, or capable of building the business I envisioned. Learning to trust myself and continue moving forward, even when I felt uncertain, has been one of the greatest lessons of my entrepreneurial journey.
Another challenge has been wearing so many hats as a small business owner. As an esthetician, I love working with clients, but running a business also means being the marketer, photographer, social media manager, customer service representative, bookkeeper, and everything in between. Balancing all of those responsibilities while continuing to grow professionally can be overwhelming at times.
I’ve also had to learn that growth doesn’t happen overnight. In today’s world, it’s easy to compare your journey to someone else’s highlight reel and feel like you’re falling behind. I’ve had moments where business was slower than I hoped, moments where I questioned my next steps, and moments where I had to remind myself why I started in the first place.
Through those challenges, I’ve learned the importance of perseverance, patience, and faith. Every obstacle has taught me something valuable, whether it was becoming more resilient, improving my skills, or trusting the process a little more. Looking back, I wouldn’t change those difficult seasons because they helped shape both the business owner and the person I am today.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that success isn’t about never facing challenges—it’s about continuing to move forward despite them.

I offer customized facials, advanced skin analysis, full-body waxing, cosmetic teeth whitening, LED light therapy, and other personalized beauty services designed to address each client’s unique goals and concerns.
One thing that sets my business apart is that I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Every client receives individualized attention, education, and recommendations based on their specific needs. Whether someone is struggling with acne, signs of aging, hyperpigmentation, sensitivity, or simply wants to maintain healthy skin, I take the time to understand their concerns and create a treatment plan that supports long-term results.
I’m especially proud of incorporating advanced skin analysis technology into my services. Rather than relying solely on what can be seen with the naked eye, I use detailed skin imaging to help clients better understand their skin and make informed decisions about their treatment and home care. I believe education is one of the most powerful tools we can give our clients.
What I am most proud of, however, is the environment I’ve created. My goal has always been for clients to feel welcomed from the moment they walk through the door.
