Today we’d like to introduce you to Jackson Britton.
Hi Jackson, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I knew what I wanted to do as soon as I could watch movies. Once I saw the Iron Giant and Atlantis the Lost Empire I knew this was for me. Then not too long after I proceeded to burn my prized Iron Giant action figure that’s worth its price in gold now with axe body spray and a lighter.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I don’t feel like it’s easy to say yes or no, It’s a process definitely. Balancing responsibility with passion can be extremely hard. Drawing and animating has also been an outlet where I can express stress and frustration into visual representations of how I’m feeling, but not ever concept makes it to paper. It’s hardest realizing not all ideas will end up being created. I feel like all artist have so many amazing ideas but unfortunately most of mine get lost through the cracks.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Bizarre fast-moving scenes are always the most exciting animations to create. A well-timed punch or kick with impact frames or a quick smear tween that bends and stretches my characters to look like they’re being pulled into a black hole tend to end up in most of my projects. Being able to see where a body part begins and where they end and connecting them with an odd BUT APPEALING drawing sets me apart.
What matters most to you?
I just want to see my name in the credits, even if it’s once.
