Rising Stars: Meet Blasia Esposito of Austin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Blasia Esposito.

Hi Blasia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Two years ago I struggled with a lot of digestive issues. I was not able to enjoy coffee as much as I used to and wanted to find a solution. If I was feeling this way there were probably other people also feeling the same. I started researching coffee trailers and how to start one, but my biggest hurdle was the fact that I knew nothing about coffee besides the way it tasted. I found a coffee school in Dallas called Texas Coffee School. I learned everything I needed to know about starting my own coffee business. The next month I realized that starting a coffee trailer was too expensive to start out of on a teacher salary. I looked into starting coffee carts and the next month I was up and running. For the past year, I have been selling coffee and tea at farmer’s markets and private events. All of my syrups are all natural-organic, no additives, and vegan. I set out to sell specialty teas as well because not everyone drinks coffee. All of my coffee beans are a darker roast so it is easier on your stomach. This past month I have upgraded my cart into a fully mobile coffee truck. I plan to continue to do farmers markets and privates events, but also look for semi-permanent spots around Leander, Cedar Park, Georgetown, Round Rock and Liberty Hill.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nothing in business is ever a smooth road. The biggest struggle was learning how to figure out everything mainly by myself. Coffee carts were not as big as they were now, and there were a lot of grey areas with permits. There were more days spent researching than actually working on my coffee cart. Another challenge was having to teach at the same time working my small business. I would spend the entire week working and then do farmers markets on weekends. Some months I barely had a break in my week!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My menu consists of lattes, drip coffee, americanos, and a variety of specialty teas from green, black, and herbal. All of my syrups are all natural with no additive ingredients so everything on my truck is great for people who have sensitive stomachs our digestive issues. What I am most proud of is the business itself. Many people have an idea, but some don’t even make it past the planning stages. I am so proud of myself for everyday I show up even if some days are better than others.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I would like to say that there is something surprising, but I am an open book. If you see my instagram, TikTok, or facebook I really try to show the good, bad, and ugly. I want to authentically be myself and let other people know that it is possible to chase your dreams while also working. That just because you have to run a small business as a “side-hustle” doesn’t take away from the fact that you’re doing it. I guess something that always surprises people though is that Blasia is my name. I actually was not going to go with the name Blasia’s Coffee and Tea, but it has been so rewarding being able to see my name somewhere (I never got cute keychains with my name on them because it too unique lol)
