Today we’d like to introduce you to Catarina Breithoff.
Hi Catarina, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve always loved creating beautiful, functional spaces.
I graduated from West Virginia University with a degree in Fashion Merchandising and Design and spent several years working in fashion, alterations, and retail. Throughout my career, I was constantly organizing inventory, creating systems, styling spaces, and helping people feel more confident in their surroundings.
When I began working as a nanny and family manager, I saw firsthand how much stress clutter and disorganization can create for busy families. I found myself naturally helping families organize playrooms, closets, kitchens, and everyday routines, not because I had to, but because I genuinely loved it.
What started as helping the families I worked for quickly became a passion. I realized that organization isn’t about having a picture-perfect home. It’s about creating systems that make daily life easier and less overwhelming.
That’s why I started Habitual Home Organizing.
Today, I help busy families create calm, functional homes through organizing, decorating, packing, and unpacking services. My goal is to create systems that work for real life and are easy to maintain long after I leave.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all. Starting a business has been one of the most rewarding things I’ve done, but it’s definitely come with challenges.
One of the biggest struggles has been building a business from the ground up while learning everything that comes with being an entrepreneur. From marketing and networking to bookkeeping and pricing services, there have been a lot of things I’ve had to figure out along the way.
Like many small business owners, I’ve also experienced moments of self-doubt and uncertainty. There were times when I wondered if I was doing enough or if things would work out. But every client transformation, referral, and kind message reminded me why I started.
Those challenges have helped me grow both personally and professionally. They’ve taught me to be adaptable, trust the process, and celebrate the small wins along the way. Looking back, I wouldn’t change any of it because it’s all helped shape Habitual Home Organizing into what it is today.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Habitual Home Organizing?
Habitual Home Organizing was built on the belief that an organized home should support your lifestyle, not create more work for you. We specialize in family-focused home organizing, decorating, and packing and unpacking services designed to help busy families create calmer, more functional spaces.
While we organize all areas of the home, we especially love working on children’s spaces, playrooms, pantries, closets, and full-home resets. We also offer room decorating services, helping clients transform spaces through furniture, décor, and thoughtful design choices that are both beautiful and practical.
What sets us apart is our focus on creating systems that are realistic and easy to maintain. We don’t believe in organizing for social media—we organize for real life. Every family is different, and we take the time to understand how our clients live so we can create customized solutions that truly work for them.
My background in fashion design, styling, and family management has given me a unique perspective on both organization and design. I love combining function and aesthetics to create spaces that not only look beautiful but make everyday routines easier.
What I’m most proud of is the impact our work has on families. Time and time again, clients tell us they feel less stressed, more in control, and able to enjoy their homes again. Knowing we’ve helped create a space that supports a family’s daily life is the most rewarding part of what we do.
I want people to know that organizing isn’t about perfection. It’s about creating a home that feels good to live in. Whether we’re organizing a pantry, redesigning a playroom, decorating a child’s bedroom, or helping a family settle into a new home after a move, our goal is always the same: to create thoughtful, functional spaces that help people spend less time managing their homes and more time enjoying them.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
If there’s one thing I’d like readers to take away, it’s that you don’t have to do everything yourself. So many people feel overwhelmed by clutter, unfinished projects, or spaces in their home that just aren’t working, and they often feel guilty about it. The truth is that life gets busy, especially for families, and sometimes having support can make all the difference.
I also want people to know that organizing isn’t about having a perfectly curated home. It’s about creating spaces that support your daily routines, reduce stress, and make life easier. Small changes can have a huge impact on how a home feels and functions.
As a small business owner, I’m incredibly grateful for every client, referral, collaboration, and community connection that has supported Habitual Home Organizing. Building this business has been such a rewarding journey, and I’m excited to continue helping families create homes they truly love living in.
