Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Lohmar.
Hi Tiffany, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I grew up around construction, so building has always felt familiar to me. I initially studied interior design and spent years exploring different careers before finding my way back to the industry. About eight years ago, I fell into remodeling and quickly realized it was the perfect combination of creativity, problem-solving, and relationship building.
After working for several respected builders and gaining experience managing complex residential projects, I decided to start LohmarHaus. I wanted to create a company that focused not only on beautiful homes, but also on creating a great experience for everyone involved in the process.
At LohmarHaus, our work is built on collaboration. We work closely with homeowners, designers, architects, and skilled craftsmen to bring each project to life. Clear communication, transparency, and teamwork are at the heart of everything we do.
At the end of the day, my goal is simple: build pretty homes for nice people and make the process enjoyable along the way.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road, but I feel very fortunate for the employers and mentors I’ve had along the way. They gave me opportunities, challenged me, and helped me build the confidence and skills I rely on today.
Being a woman in construction can be intimidating at times. You’re often walking onto jobsites where you’re the only woman, and there can be a lot of pressure to prove yourself. Imposter syndrome is very real, especially early on. There were plenty of moments when I questioned whether I belonged in the room or whether I was experienced enough to lead a project.
Over time, I learned that you don’t have to know everything—you just have to be willing to learn, ask questions, and surround yourself with great people. Construction is ultimately a team sport. The more experience I gained, the more I realized that leadership isn’t about having all the answers; it’s about bringing together talented people and helping them succeed.
Starting my own company was another leap of faith. Leaving a stable job to build something from scratch was scary, but it was also the right move. Every challenge along the way has helped shape the business I have today and reinforced what matters most to me: building strong relationships, creating a great experience for clients and trade partners, and delivering beautiful projects that everyone is proud of.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am the founder of LohmarHaus, a boutique residential remodeling company based in Austin. We specialize in high-end remodels, additions, and thoughtfully executed renovations. Our projects range from kitchen and bath remodels to whole-home transformations, and we work closely with homeowners, designers, architects, and craftsmen throughout the process.
What we’re known for is creating a great experience. Remodeling can be stressful, so we focus on clear communication, transparency, and collaboration from start to finish. My goal is for clients to enjoy the process just as much as they enjoy the finished product.
What I’m most proud of is the relationships we’ve built. Many of our projects come through referrals from past clients, designers, and trade partners, which tells me we’re doing something right. I’m also proud of the team and network of craftsmen we’ve assembled—people who genuinely care about quality and take pride in their work.
What sets LohmarHaus apart is our collaborative approach. We don’t view ourselves as just the builder. We see ourselves as part of a larger team working toward a shared vision. By partnering closely with designers, architects, homeowners, and skilled trades, we’re able to bring thoughtful, well-executed projects to life.
At the end of the day, our philosophy is simple: we build pretty homes for nice people.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
People are often surprised to learn that I’m not a lifelong builder. I studied interior design and spent years exploring different careers before finding my way into remodeling about eight years ago. Looking back, it feels like all of those experiences prepared me for what I do today.
They’re also surprised that my favorite part of the job isn’t the construction itself—it’s the collaboration. I love bringing together homeowners, designers, architects, and craftsmen to solve problems and create something beautiful. Watching a project come together through the collective effort of talented people is incredibly rewarding.
Construction is often viewed as a business of buildings, but I’ve found it’s really a business of relationships. That’s what keeps me excited about the work every day.
