Exploring Life & Business with Daniel of DBB Powersports LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel.

Hi Daniel, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I grew up in Taylor, Texas, and I’ve always been drawn to learning how things work and how to improve them. My dad coached me in football growing up, and one of the biggest lessons he taught was hustle. He always emphasized running to the ball until the whistle stopped. Looking back, that mindset carried over into every area of my life.

In middle school and high school, that focus shifted toward powerlifting. I spent about ten years competing and eventually coaching. Powerlifting taught me the value of fundamentals, consistency, and specialization. I learned that experience compounds over time and that there really aren’t any shortcuts around putting in the work.

At the same time, I was always buying, selling, fixing, and improving things. I worked on cars, rebuilt motorcycles, and was constantly looking for ways to turn skills into value. I attended Texas A&M studying Electrical Engineering, and while I didn’t finish the degree, the experience was incredibly valuable. I learned as much from leadership opportunities, student organizations, and the people around me as I did from the coursework itself. I served as President and Coach of the Texas A&M Powerlifting Team, and that experience taught me a lot about leadership, communication, and helping people work toward a common goal.

Motorcycles became my primary passion. The deeper I got into riding, the more I realized how much I didn’t know. I was fortunate to be surrounded by very experienced riders through the Texas A&M Motorcycle Club and the Brazos Valley Sport Riders group. They helped accelerate my learning and showed me the value of mentorship and learning from people who have already solved problems you’re trying to solve yourself.

In 2020, I started DBB Powersports. What began as a motorcycle dealership eventually evolved into a service shop and then into a tire-focused business. That evolution came from learning what we were truly good at and where we could provide the most value. Today, we specialize in Japanese sport bikes and motorcycle tires. We’re one of the largest Rabaconda dealers and developed our own 12mm spindle kit that’s been shipped around the world.

Throughout that journey, I’ve become increasingly interested in systems, process improvement, and documentation. I’ve spent a lot of time teaching customers, training employees, building SOPs, and documenting what works. That’s one of the reasons we created our Skool platform. I believe information is often more valuable than physical help, and if we can document knowledge properly, other people can learn faster and avoid making the same mistakes we made.

When I look back, the common thread through football, powerlifting, engineering, motorcycles, and business has been learning from people with experience, focusing on fundamentals, and building systems that help others succeed. That’s really what has brought me to where I am today.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely not. Looking back, most of the growth came from the struggles and difficult decisions.

One of the biggest challenges was leaving Texas A&M in 2020. I was studying Electrical Engineering, and walking away from college was not a decision I took lightly. At the time it felt like a major setback because I had invested years into it. Looking back, it was also a necessary decision. I had reached a point where I understood what I wanted to build and where I wanted to spend my time. Starting and growing the business required my full attention, and that decision ultimately allowed me to pursue that path.

The business itself has gone through several major changes. We started as a motorcycle dealership, but in 2024 we made the decision to stop selling motorcycles and focus entirely on service. That reduced the size of the market we could serve and created new financial challenges, but it also allowed us to become much better at what we were doing.

Then in 2025 we narrowed our focus even further and prioritized tires above everything else. On paper, it sounds like we were doing less, but in reality we were learning how important specialization is. Every time we narrowed our focus, we became more efficient, more consistent, and better able to serve our customers.

Another challenge has been learning how much I didn’t know. When I first got into motorcycles and business, I thought I had a solid understanding of both. The deeper I got, the more I realized there were layers of experience and nuance that only come with time. Learning to seek out mentors, listen to experts, and remain teachable has probably been one of the most valuable lessons of the entire journey.

The common theme through all of those struggles has been learning to make difficult decisions in the short term to create better outcomes in the long term. Every challenge forced me to improve the business, improve my leadership, and improve the systems we use today.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
DBB Powersports started as a motorcycle dealership in 2020 and has evolved significantly over the years. Today, we specialize in Japanese sport bikes and Honda Groms, with a particular focus on motorcycle tires, rider education, and consulting.

What sets us apart is that we are enthusiasts ourselves. We built the type of business that we would want to use as riders. Most enthusiasts enjoy working on their own motorcycles, but there are certain jobs where experience, equipment, and specialization make all the difference. Our goal is to be the trusted professional that riders can rely on when they need the job done right.

One of the biggest lessons we’ve learned is that specialization creates a better customer experience. Instead of trying to be everything to everyone, we’ve continually narrowed our focus. That allows us to provide faster turnaround times, more consistent quality, and a deeper level of expertise.

We’re also proud of the educational side of our business. Through our website, price sheet, and Skool platform, we’ve documented years of lessons, mistakes, and experience so riders can learn faster and make better decisions. We believe information is one of the most valuable things we can provide.

At its core, DBB Powersports exists to be the resource we wish we had when we started motorcycling.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I’ve learned from a wide variety of sources over the years. Books, podcasts, YouTube, mentors, and communities have all played a role in shaping how I think about business, leadership, motorcycles, and personal growth.

A few people who have had a significant impact on my thinking are Alex and Leila Hormozi, whose content on business systems, specialization, and value creation helped reinforce many of the lessons I was learning firsthand. I’ve also learned a tremendous amount from experienced riders, coaches, business owners, and mentors throughout different stages of my life.

One of the most valuable resources today is actually one we created ourselves. We use Skool as a place to document everything we’re learning through our business and share it with customers and the motorcycle community. Over time, we realized that information is often more valuable than the service itself. By organizing our lessons, mistakes, processes, and recommendations in one place, we’re able to help people make better decisions and avoid many of the problems we encountered along the way.
