Today we’d like to introduce you to Raegan Raguse.
Hi Raegan, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in Georgetown and came to acupuncture first as a patient, not because I planned to work in healthcare.
As a teenager, I tried acupuncture for digestive issues after being hesitant about the treatment itself—I’ve never loved the idea of needles. What stood out to me wasn’t just that it was comfortable, but that it actually helped. At the time, though, I didn’t think much beyond that experience. Years later, in my twenties, I came back to acupuncture and herbal medicine to support hormonal health, chronic headaches, and fertility. That’s when I became interested in the broader approach behind it and started learning more about the medicine itself.
That experience eventually led me to study Chinese medicine professionally. I earned my bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University, completed my master’s degree in Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine at AIMC Austin, and later completed my doctorate in Acupuncture with a specialization in Chinese Herbal Medicine.
Today, I own Silk + Stone Acupuncture in Georgetown, where I specialize in insomnia and cosmetic acupuncture, while also working with patients experiencing digestive concerns, chronic headaches, and symptoms that haven’t improved with other approaches. My focus is individualized treatment plans that address underlying patterns and help patients move toward long-term improvement.
Opening my practice in Georgetown felt like a natural fit. It’s where I grew up, and it’s meaningful to provide this kind of care in the community I know well.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the biggest surprises along the way was realizing how much education and training this path actually required. After finishing my bachelor’s degree, I spent another five years in graduate and doctoral training to become an acupuncturist and specialize in Chinese Herbal Medicine. It was a longer road than I originally expected, but I wanted to build a strong clinical foundation and pursue advanced training beyond what’s required to practice in Texas.
There were also unexpected challenges. During my education, changes in acupuncture programs and school closures in the U.S. meant I had to transfer schools and adjust plans midway through training. It wasn’t ideal, but it reinforced that I was committed to continuing even when the path looked different than I expected.
I also used to have an aversion to needles—not because they hurt, but I just didn’t like the idea of them. Ironically, after years of acupuncture school and being needled countless times in training, I became much more comfortable with the experience. I think that perspective has made me especially gentle with patients, because I still remember what it feels like to walk in feeling nervous or unsure.
As you know, we’re big fans of Silk + Stone Acupuncture. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Silk + Stone Acupuncture focuses on personalized, root-cause care for patients dealing with symptoms that often feel complex, longstanding, or difficult to resolve. I specialize in insomnia and cosmetic acupuncture, and I also work with concerns including digestive issues, chronic headaches, hormonal imbalances, fertility support, and symptoms that haven’t improved with other treatments
What sets my practice apart is the level of personalization and the way I approach care. Every patient starts with an in-depth consultation where we look at health history, lifestyle, goals, and patterns—not just symptoms. From there, I create a treatment plan that’s individualized and designed with a clear goal and timeline. My goal is always to help patients feel better and eventually not need me.
My doctoral training with a specialization in Chinese Herbal Medicine also shaped how I practice. While acupuncture and herbal medicine are both part of standard training in Texas, pursuing advanced education allowed me to deepen my clinical approach and spend more time focusing on complex, chronic concerns and individualized treatment planning.
Cosmetic acupuncture is another area I specialize in and one that many people are curious about once they learn more. Treatments are designed to support collagen production, improve circulation, and soften signs of stress and aging to create a healthier, more refreshed appearance. Patients often tell me they notice brighter skin, improved texture, and that they simply look more rested and feel more confident.
I’m also especially mindful of patient experience. Because I used to be uneasy around needles myself, I understand that trying acupuncture can feel intimidating. My approach is gentle, collaborative, and focused on helping people feel comfortable and informed throughout the process.
Brand-wise, what I’m most proud of is creating a practice that feels both clinically grounded and approachable. I wanted Silk + Stone to reflect thoughtful, individualized care while bringing a high level of training and specialization to Georgetown in a way that feels welcoming and accessible.
For readers who are unfamiliar with acupuncture, offerings include acupuncture treatments, customized Chinese herbal medicine, and cosmetic acupuncture, with treatment plans tailored to each patient’s goals and health history.
