Rising Stars: Meet Ashlie Marques of Austin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashlie Marques.

Hi Ashlie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Thanks for being here and letting us share what we’ve been building! My path wasn’t exactly straight—I spent years in accounting and property management, learning the ropes of running a business the “traditional” way. But honestly? Life has this beautiful way of bringing you back to what you’re meant to do. Art has always been my heartbeat, and all those years in offices and spreadsheets taught me how to turn passion into something sustainable.

Here’s the best part: this isn’t a solo journey. My husband has been right there with me—setting up at events, problem-solving at midnight, believing in the vision even when it felt wild. And my daughter? She’s naturally gifted in ways that blow my mind. She’s been apprenticing and will officially join us as an artist later this year. Getting to build this with the people I love most has been the most humbling, grateful experience of my life.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Smooth? Not even close—and I wouldn’t want it any other way. Every detour, every curveball, every moment we had to pivot taught us something we needed to know. That’s where the real growth happens.

This journey has taught me that nothing worth doing happens alone. Every single person who picked up the phone, booked that first appointment, answered my endless questions, or showed up for us in any way—they’re part of this story. I mean that. We wouldn’t be here without the people who believed in us, cheered us on, and extended kindness when we needed it most.

We’re all in this together, and honestly, that’s what the world needs more of—people lifting each other up and spreading love along the way.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We specialize in wedding tattoos—and yes, it’s as fun as it sounds! We create interactive experiences that turn your big day into forever keepsakes for couples who want a celebration that truly lasts. Whether it’s a unity tattoo for the two of you or a full reception setup where guests get inked with something meaningful, we’re here for it.

The designs are as unique as the couples we work with: coordinates from a special trip, inside jokes and family nicknames, themes that match the wedding vibe, or—no joke—portraits of each other’s faces next to Coors Lattes. Whatever tells your story, we’re down. It keeps the energy high and guests talking all night long.

Oh, and we bring the vibe. Our mobile studio is a 1970 retro camper decked out with gold accents, dried flowers, and dreamy lighting. It’s not just a tattoo station—it’s a whole aesthetic moment that becomes part of your celebration.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Moments. Love. Family. Friends. That’s it—that’s the list.

These are the things that make us grow, that fill us up, that remind us why we’re here. Every connection we make, every couple we work with, every laugh shared with a colleague or guest—it all matters. The intangible stuff, the feelings you can’t put in a box, the love you carry with you—that’s what drives me.

At the end of the day, I just want to share that with everyone I meet. Be kind. Love each other. And yeah—get more tattoos!
