Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Swanson.
Hi Christina, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My photography journey began at just 13 years old with a Canon camera in my hands and a curiosity for capturing the world around me. What started as a creative outlet quickly grew into a lifelong passion for preserving memories and telling stories through photographs.
Today, I’m a wife, proud mom of two amazing children, and the heart behind Christina Swanson Photography. As both a photographer and a mother, I understand how quickly life moves and how important it is to hold onto the moments that matter most. That’s what inspires me every time I pick up my camera.
My photography style is warm, timeless, and emotion-focused. I love capturing genuine connections, authentic laughter, and the beautiful in-between moments that often become our most cherished memories. Whether I’m photographing families, seniors, couples, maternity sessions, or special milestones, my goal is to create images that feel natural, meaningful, and true to your story.
For me, photography is about more than beautiful images, it’s about preserving memories that can be treasured for generations. There is nothing more rewarding than providing families with photographs that will become part of their legacy.
My previous career is in senior living and I know better than anyone from working with my senior citizens that when you’re 90 you won’t be thinking how you didn’t look perfect as a mom. You will be so glad you captured that moment and have these images to look back on as your memories start to fade. That’s why I love photos, that’s why it’s so important to me.
Years from now, I want my clients to look back at their photos and not just remember what life looked like, but how it felt.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
In any business, there are moments that are not always smooth. I’d say my most embarrassing moment as a professional in this industry to date was when I got to my clients photoshoot without a memory card. I was so blessed by another very kind photographer who helped me by giving me one of her extras. The photography community here can be competitive and intense, but the majority of us are really happy with what we do and love to be a support to one another. I’ll always be thankful for the woman who helped me. I’d credit her right now, but I didn’t get her info. It was a struggle to earn enough with an older- starter camera that I had to use to be able to purchase the camera, lenses and gear I have now. I have done minis, worked hard and earned the gear of my dreams. I also have an incredible husband who believes in me and helps me live out my dreams.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I love capturing moments for families, couples, professionals, and children. I love shooting those memories for moms especially, because our time with the little one is fleeting. One thing I learned working with the elderly population is that life is short and things get harder so why wouldn’t we capture our best moments? I’d say one thing I love to do that some others do not is, I love to share photos of my clients mid session. I want you to fall in love before you even leave me. If you’re not liking your hand placement or think your arm looks unflattering I want you to be able to adjust yourself. I really want my clients to fall in love with themselves. Especially my mama clients who are just getting their pink back after childbirth and pregnancy. Self love is so empowering and important. I also shoot with Sony products and have an extreme admiration for all things Sony.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I’m so thankful for the opportunity my clients give me. This is something I do because I have such a love for it. I don’t want to overshadow any other photographers in the area. I know how many amazing, talented options customers have nearby and I’m so grateful to the community that chooses to work with me. I’m also very thankful to the fellow photographers who have helped me along the way and my amazing husband who has always made me feel seen and supported. Finally, but most importantly I’m very thankful to my Lord and Savior for always providing and making a way. I appreciate voyage for caring about my story and spreading local business love.
