Hi Uriel, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My father granted me the opportunity to co-own the business with him due to my experience in sales and marketing. At first I was scared since it was out of my comfort zone but the love and respect for him motivated me to make the decision of joining him. I used to work in finance as a branch manager so I never saw myself working in construction. After 30 years of my dad working for an insulation company he decided to invest in the business and buy all the equipment needed to put the company into action.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It was a learning process for the both of us. Managing the emotional intelligence and forgetting that we are father and son, and acting like what we are today business partners. We clashed a lot, there were times where I wanted to quit but the sacrifices my father did for my family as we grew up from childhood till now was much far more important. We had to learn how to be bosses and give constructive criticism to our team. How to balance personal life and business overall.
