Conversations with Valentina Quero

Today we’d like to introduce you to Valentina Quero.

Hi Valentina, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been baking since I was a little girl. My mom was a baker, so I grew up watching her in the kitchen and naturally fell in love with baking myself.

For years, it was just a hobby that I enjoyed sharing with family and friends.

During one of the hardest seasons of my life, baking became my safe place. It helped me through a period of depression and gave me something beautiful to pour my heart into.

What started as a creative escape slowly became my happy place.

Five years ago, I decided to turn that passion into something bigger and started Flower & Flour ATX.

Today, I specialize in floral-inspired buttercream cakes, I feel incredibly grateful that something which once helped heal me has grown into a business.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting a small business meant making a lot of sacrifices, but I truly love what I do and wouldn’t change it for anything.

There have been long nights, early mornings, and sooo many moments where I questioned myself (haha), but it’s all been so worth it.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m probably best known for my buttercream flowers and organic, nature-inspired style. I love creating cakes that look like they belong in a garden, a lot of flowers and fruit! The more the better for me.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I find a lot of inspiration in florists and floral designers.

Loooove studying the way they combine colors, textures, and different varieties of flowers.
