Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalie Lord.
Hi Natalie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My father, Gary Clarke, has been an actor his whole life and I have followed in his footsteps from a young age. I didn’t go to college upon graduating high school in 2019, a difficult decision at the time, but one I’m incredibly grateful to have made now. Instead, I went out to make a career in the film industry and was blessed enough to land my first feature, Apollo 10 1/2, a Richard Linklater film, a few months later. A couple more jobs followed until Covid hit and all production ceased.
To keep myself from going crazy, I joined a boxing gym on a whim (truly, something I’d never entertained before). There was a place I’d heard of a year prior: Lord’s Boxing Gym. I was hooked very quickly and took up training like it was my new job. And then soon enough, it became so! I began coaching boxing full time in 2021 full time, while working acting jobs as the industry rebuilt post-pandemic. I spent the next few years, training, coaching and acting any chance I got. I appeared in the first season of Landman in 2024, fulfilling my dream of working with Taylor Sheridan. Then, in 2025, training under coaches, Seth Zanutto (founder of White Collar Fight Night), Gabriel Cosma, and Richard Lord’s son, Tiger. I began competing. I fought in the Austin and San Antonio Golden Gloves tournaments and won!
In late 2025, I married Tiger, and we now help run the family gym. I find it mind-boggling the ways that God works in our lives; a hobby I was unlikely to ever pick up led me to my family and a career I am passionate about that supports me as I chase my dreams.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not in the least. And I feel it’s only begun!
Covid was certainly one, as most people would say. I had booked a leading role in a Linklater film right out of high school and I had all kinds of hopes for what would come next when then it all just stopped.
There have been all kinds of bumps in the road so far, and I think the hardest is not knowing what’s going to happen. With every obstacle, I am always thinking, “how this will possibly work out?” The unknown is a difficult one to deal with but my faith is keeps me going. I always know God’s got a plan far better than mine and it’s about remembering that when you’re in the thick of it.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Richard Lord’s Boxing Gym?
Richard Lord’s Boxing Gym is an old-Austin staple. This gym that my father in law built almost 50 years ago, is an iconic trove of boxing, that provides some of the best training you can find in Texas. His son, Tiger Lord, and I are head coaches. We have built a competition team which is active in tournaments nationally. While is assist Tiger with the team, I also run nutrition and personal training in-house for the gym.
As far as boxing gyms go in Austin, Lord’s will always stand apart. It feels like you’ve been teleported upon walking in, as you are immediately surrounded by decades of history on the walls. We are home to multiple world champions and extremely talented amateur fighters. Our members are loyal, several of them have been with us for multiple decades, and they make up the tight-knit community that is the heart of our gym.
I am proud that we are family owned and run. And I’m beyond proud that I get to be a part of this powerhouse of a legacy that my family has worked so hard to build.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
As I said above, I was in Landman. Season 1, episode 6, I’m the one in the swimsuit!
Also, I’m quite nerdy. I love to read, learn, and do puzzles. No math though, thank you very much.
