Today we’d like to introduce you to Jensen Truly.
Hi Jensen, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My story is a mix of different cultures and a very personal turning point. I was born in Connecticut but spent the first ten years of my life raised in Guadalajara and the artistic town of Ajijic, Mexico. When I was 11, my family moved to Austin, Texas, which has been home ever since.
My journey into music and DJing really began during a heavy chapter of my life, right as my mother was battling cancer. Music quickly became more than just a passion; it was my lifeline and my escape. After high school, I wanted to see the world, so I spent time volunteering across Australia and Thailand. While I was traveling all I wanted to do was listen to music and make music.
The real turning point for me came in 2023 when I lost my mother. Before she passed, she always told me to relentlessly chase my dreams. Music was the only thing that got me through that grief, and it made me realize that this was my calling.
That brings me to where I am today. I’m currently living in Austin, studying music business at ACC, and taking courses at Berklee to sharpen my production skills. I’m pouring everything I have into becoming a full-time artist and producer. My goal is to build a sound rooted in resilience and connection, so I can give listeners the same healthy escape that music gave me when I needed it most.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been smooth but I believe nothing worth it just comes easily. Losing my mom was definitely the hardest thing I have ever gone through but honestly since it was so hard it’s made all the other “problems” not nearly as hard. Now I’ve realized that I want to make as many mistakes as possible as it’s the best way to learn so when something goes wrong I learn and I move on.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a producer/ DJ,
I specialize in faster paced Edm around the 130-145 bpm
I am known for having high energy sets
I am most proud of the fact that I have built such an amazing community of people that come to be themselves and dance their hearts out.
One of the things that I’ve been told that sets me apart from others is the stage presence that I bring to a show
