Hidden Gems: Meet Quothia Wolf of The Studio GTX

Today we’d like to introduce you to Quothia Wolf.

Hi Quothia, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my career in California, where I was immersed in the creative side of the industry from the beginning. Working behind the scenes at hair shows, collaborating with leading brands, and traveling extensively as an educator and artist. Those experiences shaped my perspective on hair as more than a service; it became a craft, a form of expression, and a way to connect with people.

After opening my first salon, I eventually made the move to Austin, Texas where I built a brand new clientele and refined my vision. I wanted to create something more intentional. Something that felt elevated without being exclusive, and artistic without losing its sense of warmth.

That vision became The Studio GTX: a boutique salon housed in a historic blue home just off the Georgetown square. It’s a space rooted in the art of hair and the power of community. Where exceptional work, thoughtful design, and genuine connection exist under one roof. Every detail reflects the belief that life isn’t about excess; it’s about experience, craftsmanship, and creating a place people want to return to.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I entered the industry without the traditional path. I never assisted and never worked in a commission salon. I rented my own chair from the beginning, which meant learning the business while learning the craft. There were seasons when I worked multiple jobs just to cover my booth rent, investing everything I had into a career I believed would eventually meet me where my ambition already was.

When I finally opened my ocean view salon in California, it felt like years of hard work had come full circle. Then 2020 happened, and like so many others, I watched the future I had carefully built change overnight. What I thought was the destination became a turning point.

Starting over in Austin was one of the most humbling experiences of my career. My only client was someone that saw me back in California who moved to Dallas and made the drive just to sit in my chair. That kind of loyalty reminded me that relationships, not geography, are what truly build a business.

From there, I rebuilt everything. I hustled. I networked. I showed up consistently. I prayed. Most importantly, I trusted that if I stayed committed to my work and my values, the right people would find me. Building a clientele from scratch a second time taught me that success isn’t something you arrive at once, it’s something you have to be willing to build again and again.

That season changed me. It was humbling because it stripped away every shortcut and every assumption. It was empowering because it proved that what I’d built wasn’t luck. It was skill, resilience, and an unwavering belief in my purpose. Today, I carry that perspective into everything I create. I believe the strongest foundations are built when you refuse to lose yourself in the pursuit of success.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Being an artist is a mindset. A way of seeing the world through a lens of beauty, intention, and bold self-expression. As a hairdresser, you are a sculptor of identity, a painter of confidence, and a visionary who brings imagination to life strand by strand. Each client becomes your canvas, each style an original piece of art shaped by your intuition, skill, and creativity.

That’s why the salon isn’t just a workplace, it’s your studio. A place where transformation happens, where life is shared, and where your artistry makes people feel seen, beautiful, and connected.

Welcome to The Studio GTX: where hair isn’t just a job, it’s our passion.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
I believe we’re all looking for the same thing: to be seen, to belong, and to leave people better than we found them. Hair just happens to be the medium I’ve been given to do that. What begins as an appointment often becomes a conversation, a celebration, or the beginning of a lasting friendship. Those moments matter to me far more than any trend or accolade ever could.

I’m equally inspired by art and discovery. The willingness to stay curious, to keep learning, and to create something beautiful from a simple idea. I’m driven by the belief that beauty should feel personal, thoughtful, and deeply human.

Resilience has taught me that the most extraordinary things are rarely built under perfect circumstances. My faith constantly reminds me to trust the process. And love, expressed through generosity, creativity, and showing up is what gives all of it meaning.

At the end of the day, I hope the spaces I create leave people feeling more confident, more connected, and more themselves. If that’s the legacy I leave behind, I’ll consider it a life well lived.
