Today we’d like to introduce you to Valerie Avila.
Hi Valerie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Learning how to prepare food, sweet and savory in a healthy way. What makes us different Is that we use organic white spelt which is an ancient grain and is easier to digest.
We started selling a full vegan menu at several farmers markets on the south and east side of Austin. Now we produce from a small micro bakery from our home under cottage law.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Being a professional homemaker and making money from that can be challenging but the every day experience of cooking home cooked meals for my family is what makes any struggles big or small worth it .
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m self taught and have worked at several local businesses including Ciscos bakery, Huts hamburgers, Jo’s coffee, Hyde Park cafe, Living Arts Bakery then I started working for myself at farmers market selling my own baked goods. Vegan options selling fried fruit and savory pies, Three layer Dark chocolate cake, strawberry oat bars, Dark chocolate chip cookies
Spelt loaf, focaccia and other savories that change during the seasons.
