Today we’d like to introduce you to Roy FAUST.
Hi Roy, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I grew up in a construction family. My dad ran a painting contracting business and owned multiple rental properties. He was a true rags-to-riches story and someone I admired deeply. He wasn’t the smartest man in the room or the strongest, but he could outwork anyone.
After a few sales jobs out of college, I landed at a remodeling company. I knew almost immediately I’d found what I was meant to do. I absolutely loved the business. But the owners were unethical and didn’t treat people the way they should have, so I often found myself fighting for our clients because I believed they deserved better.
That’s when I realized remodeling could be so much more.
I wanted to build a company where success wasn’t measured only by profit, but by the experience we created for our clients. When you’re invited into someone’s home, that’s sacred. As a designer and remodeler, you have the opportunity to improve someone’s daily life. I wanted every project to be exciting, enjoyable, and remembered for all the right reasons.
Now, more than 20 years later and with hundreds of five-star reviews, I still pinch myself. I tell my staff and clients all the time, “Can you believe I get paid to do this?”
The greatest joy is seeing the smile on a client’s face when they first see their design, and then watching them realize the finished remodel exceeded even what they imagined. But what I’m most proud of isn’t the awards or the reviews. It’s the friendships. Many of our clients have become lifelong friends, and that’s something I never take for granted.
Everything I’ve learned through New Creations has also inspired me to create Get the Wolf Academy. It’s a place where homeowners can learn the standards, lessons, and insights I’ve gained over two decades, so they can have a great remodeling experience, whether they hire us or someone else.
And here’s the part that means the most to me.
Even though my father has passed away, I still run into people who knew him or were once his clients. They almost always tell me the same thing:
“Your dad was the handshake man. If he gave you his word, he stood behind it.”
More than anything else I’ve accomplished, that’s the legacy I hope to carry forward.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I’ve been blessed in so many ways that it’s easy to forget the struggles. But there have been plenty along the way.
Like every business owner, I’ve had sleepless nights wondering where the next project would come from. And somehow, every time things got tough, something always came along to keep us moving forward. Over the years, we’ve weathered recessions, COVID, rising material costs, labor shortages, and just about every challenge this industry can throw at you. We weren’t alone; everyone was feeling it. All you could do was put your head down, keep your standards high, and keep working.
If I’m being honest, the hardest experience of my career wasn’t an economic downturn. It was discovered that a trusted employee had stolen a large sum of money from the company. After a long fight, I recovered it, but it changed me.
When you would never do something like that to another person, it’s hard to imagine someone doing it to you. Over time, I realized that protecting your business isn’t a sign of distrust; it’s simply part of being a responsible business owner. You can trust people and still put the right safeguards in place.
Looking back, every challenge taught me something. Every setback made me a little wiser, a little stronger, and a better business owner.
After all, if it were easy, everyone would do it.

New Creations is a custom kitchen and bath remodeling company based in Austin, Texas. For more than 20 years, we’ve specialized in full-service design-and-build remodeling for homeowners who want exceptional craftsmanship, thoughtful design, and a remodeling experience that’s as enjoyable as the finished space.

Our goal is to create spaces that feel timeless and make everyday life better.
What we’re most proud of isn’t the number of projects we’ve completed or the hundreds of five-star reviews we’ve earned. It’s the trust we’ve built along the way. Many of our clients become lifelong friends. They invite us back for future projects, recommend us to their families and neighbors, and remain part of the New Creations family long after the work is complete.
At the end of the day, remodeling someone’s home is a responsibility we never take lightly. Our philosophy is simple. Do what you say. Communicate honestly. Stand behind your work. Build something worthy of the trust your clients place in you.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Personally, I don’t believe luck is what builds a successful remodeling company. If you’re waiting for a lucky break, go buy a lottery ticket. Don’t start a business.
Success comes from showing up every day, doing the right things over and over, treating people well, constantly improving, and refusing to quit when things get hard.
Do unexpected opportunities come along? Absolutely. But I believe you earn those opportunities by putting yourself in a position to recognize them and act on them.
In other words, we make our own luck.
