Today we’d like to introduce you to Alysia Melchor.
Hi Alysia, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve always been passionate about beauty. Growing up, I loved keeping up with the latest trends, experimenting with skincare, and learning everything I could about the beauty industry. But it wasn’t until I was 23, working as a receptionist at a spa in Grand Prairie, that I discovered the world of esthetics. Watching the estheticians interact with their clients every day opened my eyes to a career I didn’t even know existed. I was inspired not only by the treatments they performed but also by the opportunity to build a business of their own.
Around that time, I became pregnant during COVID-19, and like many women, I experienced severe hormonal acne. It was the worst my skin had ever been, and it affected my confidence in ways I hadn’t experienced before. That journey gave me a much deeper understanding of how closely confidence and skincare are connected. I realized I wanted to help people feel comfortable and confident in their own skin, just as I wanted for myself.
After hard work and dedication, I earned my license as an esthetician. I thought finding a salon suite would be the easy part, but it ended up being one of the biggest challenges. After months of searching I found the perfect space, and opening my own business became a reality.
Being the first entrepreneur in my family has been incredibly rewarding, but it has also come with challenges. I had to build my business from the ground up without an established network or client base. Every client, every review, and every referral has been earned through consistency, perseverance, and genuine care. My family’s support and encouragement from neighboring professionals gave me a great foundation, and now I’m excited to see the momentum continue to grow.
What I love most about owning my business is the freedom to create an experience that reflects who I am. I get to provide a welcoming, judgment-free space where clients can relax, feel cared for, and leave more confident than when they arrived. At the same time, being my own boss allows me to build the career I’ve always wanted while still being present for my children. For me, success isn’t just about helping people look their best—it’s about helping them feel their best while creating a life that balances both my passion and my family.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
As a first-time business owner and the first entrepreneur in my family, I’ve had to learn almost everything on my own. From marketing and bookkeeping to finding clients and running the day-to-day operations, every part of the business has been a learning experience. There have been moments when it felt like I was always one step behind, trying to figure things out by myself. Building a clientele from scratch without an established network was one of my biggest challenges, and it took patience and persistence to keep showing up even when business was slow.
Those challenges have made me more confident, more resourceful, and even more passionate about what I do.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My clients will never be judged and will always be welcome. As a mom, I understand the struggles we go through to find ourselves again. I’m here to help with that journey, cheering you on. I specialize in full-body waxing—including underarms, arms, legs, facial waxing, brows, and Brazilians—as well as body-sculpting services such as lipo cavitation and wood therapy. I also offer brow laminations and tints, as well as lash lifts and tints, providing personalized treatments designed to help you look and feel your best.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
My advice for new estheticians who are going solo is that success isn’t about having everything figured out from the beginning—it’s about being willing to keep learning and keep going. YOU GOT IT!
