Life & Work with Seth Jones of Austin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Seth Jones.

Hi Seth, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
The brand was born when I was in college. It was my freshman year, and we were on Christmas break. Instead of focusing on the next semester, I took some time to sketch and really dream about what the brand could become.

I’m a sneakerhead by trade, and my love for streetwear and sneakers really developed during my freshman year of high school. So by the time I started the brand, I already had a few years of inspiration and experiences to pull from, and that helped drive the vision forward.

That spring semester, I figured out how to make a sample. I got one T-shirt made, took some cool pictures in it, learned how to market it, and released it.

Ever since then, I’ve been trying to add as much substance to the brand as possible, while trying to be as present in the moment as I can.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This is something I’ve been wrestling with for a long time. Honestly, it’s probably been my biggest grievance.

Nobody really showed me how to do this. I’ve had to figure it out literally one step at a time. There’s been a lot of praying and a lot of arguing with myself.

If there’s a problem, I don’t mind fixing it. My biggest issue is that I don’t always have the knowledge to fix it. So I have to take the time to learn, figure out what information actually applies to the problem I’m trying to solve, and then put it into practice.

Sometimes it’s really rewarding because I finally find the solution, and I feel accomplished. But then there are other times when it’s like, “Okay, bro… I’ve tried so hard, and nothing is working.” Those moments can be really discouraging because you keep searching for an answer that just doesn’t seem to come.

I’m working on adjusting my thinking pattern—learning to operate from what’s true instead of tying my value to what I produce or what I can’t produce. And honestly, the best part is when I look back and can appreciate how much I’ve grown. The struggles make the message so much stronger. I don’t have to work harder to make people believe it, because they can see it in me.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a graphic designer by trade. That’s the day job that pays the bills. But honestly, it’s been more like a paid grad school experience.

In my short time, I’ve learned and grown so much. I’ve really developed a love for the craft. It’s given me a place to experiment, make mistakes, and keep learning with a safety net.

Everything I learn at work, I bring back to the brand.

I think what makes me stand out as a creative is that I took the time to learn how to properly present an idea, not just come up with one. I’ve been given a lot of opportunities simply because of how I presented the brand. It’s a newfound strength that I’m proud to have.

How do you think about happiness?
Peace does. Honestly, just peace.

I’ve seen enough and experienced enough to know how valuable it is. There have been so many things in life that have tried to rob me of my peace.

Lowkey, I think that’s why my faith in God has gotten so much stronger this season. My peace got attacked, and it forced me to assess what it was actually resting on.

Now I’m trying to make sure my peace is built on what’s true, not on whatever story I’ve created in my head. Life shifts so much, but if my peace is built on something solid, then no matter what happens… Imma be good, and by extension happy.
