Today we’d like to introduce you to Saint Realz.
Hi Saint, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I always had a love for music even before I started creating music. When I was in elementary I would have this music album back when buying physical copies was a big thing. It was like a photo album but for music.
In it there was various artists and I would spend hours listening to music; day after day.
Fast forward to middle school I came across someone who rapped and I thought that was cool. So I started writing music too. It became an obsession for me. There wasn’t a day I didn’t go without writing. I had notebooks full of music.
By the time I reached high school I was really good at making music. However in my early 20s I stopped making music. I didn’t want to be the face of the music; I wanted to play the background.
Bout a decade later the same person that got me into music in terms of writing hung out with me and told me about different platforms they would record on. Hearing about that sparked my interest because when I made music before it was much more difficult to record music.
About a few months later I started my journey of making music and rediscovering my love for it. Only this time I don’t really rap anymore. I mostly sing and I do various genres. I’m quite the genre blender.
These days I spend countless hours mastering my sound and building the world around my music. I want my music to sound real but also otherworldly.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I wouldn’t say the road has been smooth. It’s been quite difficult; I’m just use to adversity and defying the odds.
I’m okay with being the underdog and taking the road less traveled.
I struggled with finding my sound, how I wanted to present myself to the world and getting accustomed to being seen.
Being seen is the hardest part for someone that can be so introverted and tucked away.
Also, music is one of the hardest jobs to do. It’s not just about talent. It’s a business. Creators can struggle with that; we just want to make music but that’s just not how it works.
Albeit, I’m okay with it and I’m okay with the silence. I work better in it but the silence and lack of recognition kills a lot of careers and passions before they even get started.
I know this is meant for me. In this life and beyond it I’ll always be a musician. Giving people something to feel. Whether that’s happy or sad.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a music artist, more specifically a recording artist. I specialize in electronic music and electronic production but unlike most electronic music my music is deeply vulnerable and personal. It’s not just about the beat. It’s not just background music.
I blend genres and I’ve created my own sub-genre called “Psioncore” which showcases my many sounds. The music I make is recorded, written, produced, mixed and mastered all by me.
My branding has heavy sci-fi, cosmic and cyberpunk influences. Science is my favorite subject and I’ve always had a deep love for astronomy, cosmology and more recently physics. I say that because I’ve started incorporating some of that love for it into my music and branding. Some of my biggest inspirations come from things that aren’t directly related to music; such as film, stories, video games and the arts in general.
I’m also a storyteller so my music is crafted with storytelling in mind. I’m working on phases sort of like movie franchises and video games.
So there’s an entire narrative that’s playing out. I’m proud that I’ve been entrusted to deliver this story to the world. I know there’s people who need it and the music I make.
Any big plans?
My plans for the future is to continue my signature series called The Last Psion and create other major projects and singles that compliment the world that I’m building.
I’m really looking forward to people seeing just how much thought has gone into the creation of my work. I don’t know what will happen from now until the end of my story but I’m excited either way. I’m giving the universe the chance to surprise me.
One day my music will be in film and games and I’ll be in charge of making entire soundtracks. So I’m looking forward to that as well.
