Today we’d like to introduce you to John Conroy.
Hi John, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
John’s experience as a successful international model helped launch his career as a photographer. His images appeared in advertisements for Neiman Marcus ,Calvin Klein and graced the covers and pages of Men’s Health and GQ magazine. While working as a model ,John was naturally attracted to the creative field of photography.
John has worked with a broad spectrum of personalities . Grammy winners to Olympic Gold medalist . High fashion to rising stars.
Throughout his 35 plus years as a model and photographer he was always helping fellow models and actors get signed by top agents. John was always there with sound advice and guidance. After hearing misleading information and horror stories of people being taken advantage of , John felt the need to open his own scouting and mother agency.
John’s keen eye for scouting new talent and his impeccable reputation in the industry is a dynamic one-two punch for placing future stars.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
This is a very competitive and unpredictable industry. The business has drastically changed since I started back in the late 80’s. With social media and brand ambassadors at the forefront its important to stay focused and current . The one thing that has stayed the course for me is to continue to work with professionals with the same values and business sense. The main struggle would have to be the lack of loyalty and drive that a lot of the new talent and agents are missing, Luckily , I navigate away from those situations .
We’ve been impressed with John Conroy Management , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
As discussed , my experience as a working model prepared me for being a scout and manager. I never burn bridges . In any business you will not always agree on issues that arise . I find it best to try to work out a common thread that works best for everyone …most importantly for the talent that I am representing. My first hand experience as a model sets the bar higher for the new models . I don’t make false promises about what’s to come and help navigate a smooth path to get them started on the road to a successful experience.

I have been fortunate to learn from the best agents in the world. Each has their own way of working with models and clients. My educational background in Marketing and sales along with first hand experience with clients was the best combo for success.
