Exploring Life & Business with Ginger Slover of Ozel Silk

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ginger Slover.

Hi Ginger, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I spent much of my career in the solar and finance industries, and while I genuinely enjoyed the work, I found myself wanting a more creative outlet and the opportunity to create something that was entirely my own. I’ve always loved great design, fashion, and timeless pieces, and I couldn’t stop thinking about the idea of creating silk scarves with a distinctly Western perspective.

That idea eventually became Ozel Silk. Every scarf begins with a concept I create, inspired by the places, colors, and traditions I love. Every detail is thoughtfully considered, from double-sided silk twill to hand-rolled edges. My goal was simple: create scarves that feel beautiful enough to treasure but effortless enough to wear every day.

Ozel Silk officially launched in late 2025 and has grown through social media, word of mouth, pop-up events, and wonderful boutique partners who believed in the brand from the beginning. The response has exceeded anything I expected, and it’s been incredibly rewarding to watch an idea that started as a creative outlet become something women genuinely connect with.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I think that’s part of building anything worthwhile. One of the biggest challenges was finding a manufacturing partner that could produce the level of quality I wanted. I spent a lot of time learning about silk, comparing samples, and paying attention to details most people would never notice, like the weight of the silk, the print quality, and the hand-rolled edges. I knew I only wanted to launch once I felt genuinely proud of the product.

Building brand awareness has been another challenge. When you’re a new company, every customer, every boutique, and every opportunity has to be earned. There isn’t a shortcut for that.

And then there’s the name. I absolutely love the name Ozel…but I also fully accept that almost no one says it correctly the first time. At this point, I just smile and help them through it. It’s become part of the journey.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Ozel Silk?
Ozel Silk creates original silk scarves inspired by the landscapes, traditions, and spirit of the West. Each design begins as original artwork and is created to feel distinctive, timeless, and easy to wear.

From the beginning, quality has been non-negotiable. Every scarf is made from double-sided silk twill and finished with hand-rolled edges because I wanted the craftsmanship to be just as beautiful as the artwork. My goal has never been to create scarves that sit in a drawer waiting for a special occasion. I want people to wear them, enjoy them, and make them part of their everyday style.

What I am most proud of is seeing women make each design their own. There is something incredibly rewarding about watching an idea become part of someone else’s personal style, and that is really what Ozel Silk is all about.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I think people are becoming much more intentional about what they buy. Instead of filling their closets with disposable fashion, they’re looking for pieces that are well made, versatile, and made to last. Consumers also want to know who they’re buying from. They appreciate craftsmanship, originality, and supporting smaller brands that create something genuinely unique.

I also think we’re seeing a renewed appreciation for natural fibers. More people are paying attention to what their clothing is made from and are choosing materials like silk, linen, wool, and cotton over synthetic fabrics whenever they can. Natural fibers not only feel different, but they’re timeless, and I think that shift will continue over the next decade.

I’ve always believed that if you create something with exceptional quality and a timeless design, people will continue to reach for it year after year. That’s the philosophy behind Ozel Silk, and I think it’s becoming more relevant than ever.
