Today we’d like to introduce you to Pam Delahoussaye.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
PetVet365 is locally owned by veterinarians. Dr. Pam Delahoussaye is the Austin area veterinary owner. Each hospital is led by a veterinarian partner from the local community who is a partner to Dr. Pam. Dr. Jennifer Moon in Leander and Dr. Morgan Heller in Georgetown. PetVet365 is a small network of hospitals found in various communities in the United States. PetVet365 provides centralized assistance with setup, marketing, technology, payroll, and purchasing rather than selling standard commercial franchise models.
PetVet365 hospitals are built out to support our Fear-Free certified way of practicing. Each exam suite is a small living room with a couch, rug, and television to create a low-stress, home-like environment. Our lobby is very small by design and we ask that our clients call or text us from their vehicle so that there is no anxious waiting with multiple pets in a lobby or waiting room.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being a small animal general practitioner is incredibly rewarding. There is always a variety of cases during a normal day. Business ownership is very tough but also rewarding. There has been a lot to learn about managing a veterinary facility and the staffing that we need to provide the best patient care and client experience.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I have been working in the veterinary field since I was 17 years old (started working in a small animal general practice my senior year of high school). I have worked every position in a traditional veterinary hospital- kennel assistant, stocking supplies in an adjacent pet store, veterinary assistant, veterinary receptionist, area and regional medical operations director and, now, owner of two PetVet365 hospitals.
How do you think about happiness?
Caring for pets and the people that love them makes me happy. This is my true calling in life. The human-animal bond is what fuels my passion.
