Hi Shaleeza, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have a successful and fulfilling career in corporate America, where I’ve spent many years developing leadership, organizational, and people skills. Alongside that career, however, there has always been another part of my life quietly unfolding.
From an early age, I experienced the world a little differently. Growing up in Trinidad and Tobago, I spent countless hours at my grandparents’ home, where I discovered I could communicate with trees and animals in a way that felt completely natural to me. My grandparents played a significant role in my early spiritual foundation. My grandmother possessed a quiet wisdom, while my grandfather was skilled in the healing arts, something I was naturally drawn to from childhood. I also had the ability to feel energy and a deep sense of intuitive knowing. For many years, I believed this was simply how everyone experienced the world until I realized that was not the case.
As I grew older, I found that people naturally gravitated toward me. Friends, family, and coworkers often confided in me during some of life’s most difficult moments. I never questioned why. I simply listened and shared whatever came through me in the moment.
Everything started to unfold one day during a massage. The practitioner told me she could feel Reiki energy flowing through my hands. She encouraged me to learn Reiki, and that conversation opened a door I had never considered walking through. As I continued studying Reiki and other healing modalities, my intuitive abilities blossomed, and I found myself meeting remarkable teachers and mentors who helped me better understand and develop gifts that had always been part of my life.
Years later, a close friend encouraged me to start a business because she believed I was already helping so many people. I hesitated. It felt uncomfortable to charge for something that came so naturally, and I questioned whether my abilities would show up when someone needed me. Until then, they had always come naturally. I didn’t know if they would simply appear on demand, and I took that responsibility very seriously. I also wasn’t sure I was ready to step into a role that some people might see as a little “woo woo.”
But with each passing year, the call within me grew louder. It was as though someone was knocking on an inner door, waiting for me to unlock it. Eventually, I realized I could either continue ignoring that calling or trust where it was leading me.
One of my favorite stories is about the naming of my website. My son, Samson, has been one of my guiding lights. About ten years ago, he encouraged me to move to Austin, saying, “There are a lot of weird people like you in Austin.” Of course, at the time I didn’t see myself that way.
When my son was creating my website, we were searching for a name that felt like me. One day, at a friend’s house, my handcrafted Palo Santo bracelets were being shown to a potential buyer when another gentleman happened to overhear the conversation. He leaned in, smiled, and said, “I like woo woo stuff too.” My son immediately looked to see if the website name was available, and it was. Just like that, ItsWooWooStuff.com was born.
What started as a lighthearted name unexpectedly became part of my own journey. It helped me stop worrying so much about what other people might think and encouraged me to embrace every part of who I am.
As the business continues to grow, so does my vision. Kailash Healing is a more meaningful reflection of what I am becoming, a place where intuitive counseling, energy work, sacred jewelry, workshops, and retreats all comes together with one purpose: helping people remember who they are.
Looking back, I don’t feel as though I chose this path. I feel every experience lead me closer to what I was always meant to do.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
At the beginning of my energy healing practice, I had very few clients. To create another source of income, I curated holiday gift baskets to sell at local artisan markets. However, when I applied to my first market, I was told I needed to create something by hand to qualify as a vendor. While I had never considered myself an artisan, I remembered a Palo Santo bracelet that had been gifted to me four years earlier. That moment changed everything.
I desided to source ethically harvested Palo Santo from Peru and taught myself to make jewelry. My intention was never to become a jeweler, I simply wanted a place where I could introduce people to Kailash Healing and connect with potential clients. Ironically, the jewelry became one of the defining parts of my business.
One of the ongoing challenges has been maintaining a reliable supply of ethically sourced Palo Santo from Peru. Navigating tariffs while ensuring every piece meets my standards for quality, authenticity, and ethical sourcing has become an important part of the work behind the scenes.

At Kailash Healing, my work is about helping clients reconnect with themselves. Through intuitive counseling, energy healing, ancient wisdom techniques, educational blogs, workshops, retreats, and handcrafted sacred Palo Santo jewelry, I guide each person back to their inner wisdom, purpose, and power.
What I am most proud of is helping clients see themselves, their experiences, and the world around them through a new lens. A shift in perspective creates greater awareness, clarity, confidence, and a deeper understanding of life.
What sets Kailash Healing apart is the way every offering comes together as one meaningful path. I blend intuitive guidance, ancient wisdom and energy healing, paired with the intelligence of the body, and nature to inspire lasting personal growth and a more conscious way of living.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I have never considered myself a risk-taker. In fact, I naturally prefer stability and thoughtful planning. Looking back, however, many of the most meaningful moments in my life required me to step into the unknown before I could see where the path would lead.
For me, the biggest risks have been deeply personal. Starting a business while working full-time in corporate, putting myself out there despite having a naturally shy personality, sharing my intuitive abilities, and trusting a path that couldn’t always be explained, all required courage.
Every meaningful chapter of Kailash Healing started that way. I took the first step, trusted the process, and each experience revealed the next. In hindsight those moments never felt like taking a leap. They felt like coming home to the work I was meant to do.
One day, I know I will have to step away from the security of a corporate job and into a life where my livelihood will depend entirely on my own abilities. When that day arrives, I will choose to see it as destiny vs. risk.
