Hi Regina , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
It started with a camera in my hands and no idea where it would lead. Late 1990s, film still king, and me just a girl who loved the way a single frame could hold onto a moment that would otherwise slip by. I wasn’t chasing a career. I was chasing a feeling. Looking back, I think I was always going to end up here. My dad was never without a camera. He documented so much with his kodak 110 film. Without ever saying so, he taught me that paying attention was its own kind of love language. I just didn’t know yet that it was mine too.
Life moved forward the way it does. And then I had my first child, and something shifted. Suddenly I wasn’t just capturing moments. I needed to understand them. I fell headfirst into the art and the technicality of it, the digital world opening up in front of me like a door I hadn’t noticed before. What had been a quiet hobby became something closer to a calling.
In 2010, I stopped waiting and started Sweet G Photography. First with newborns, then families and weddings. But businesses, like people, grow into who they’re meant to be. Over the years, mine found its way toward seniors, sports, and business branding. The moments that mark transition, achievement, identity. Along the way, I’ve had the honor of photographing organizations such as the Texas Rangers, TMPA, the Texas Peace Officers’ Memorial, and the Girl Scouts of Central Texas. My work has been printed on fleets of cars in Frisco, on plaques given to fallen officers, motorcycle helmets, and so many other places.
Eighteen years in, based in Round Rock and reaching across the US, I’ve learned that what I love most isn’t the single photograph. It’s the story stitched across years. That’s the story I keep choosing to tell, one client, one chapter, at a time.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Honestly? No. It hasn’t been a smooth road and I don’t think it’s supposed to be. Building a business is its own kind of evolution, something almost every entrepreneur has to move through: the fumbling, the learning, the slow accumulation of knowing what you didn’t know before. Early on, especially when I was younger, my biggest struggle wasn’t creative at all. It was learning the actual business of business. Nobody hands you that education. You earn it, one mistake and one small win at a time.And then there’s the world itself, which never stops shifting under your feet. Digital media alone has transformed so dramatically from where I started to where I am now that staying current has been its own lifelong education. These days, the challenge looks different but feels just as real. AI is everywhere, and everything starts to feel a little manufactured, a little interchangeable. In a world where so much can be duplicated in seconds, staying unique, staying human has become one of the harder things I fight for. But I think that’s exactly the point. My work has never been about producing an image. It’s about capturing the feeling in an image A real moment, a real person, a real story. That’s the thing I keep coming back to when the road gets bumpythe reminder of why I’m doing this in the first place.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a photographer, but if I’m being honest, that’s not really the whole truth. I’m an entrepreneur first. And underneath that, I’m an artist. Photography just happens to be the genre I’ve spent my life learning, the language I chose to speak in. But the drive underneath it all has never been about the camera itself, it’s about creating. About taking something ordinary and making it beautiful.What I’m most proud of isn’t a single image or a single client. It’s that I’ve stayed standing through every up and down If you ask what sets me apart, it’s not a style or a specialty. It’s that no matter how hard life has gotten, and anyone who knows me knows it has gotten hard… I don’t give up. I never have. That’s the thread running through everything I’ve built.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Something most people don’t know about me? I wear a lot of hats outside of photography. I’m a caregiver, I’m deep into studying sound healing, I know my way around a construction site, Work in real estate, and music runs through basically everything I do. Somewhere between frequencies, framing (the building kind, not just the photo kind), and a good playlist, that’s where you’ll find the rest of me!!!
