Community Highlights: Meet Marie Miller of Three Strand Cord Weddings

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marie Miller.

Hi Marie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
After planning my own pandemic wedding and a reception the following year, I fell in love with the industry. I took a side job as a check-in concierge at a local wedding venue, assisting families with setup, answering venue questions, and serving as a joyful point of contact.

The venue graciously offered me an in-house coordinator position. After a lot of prayer, I wrapped up the school year with my students and transitioned from teaching to serving couples on one of the most important days of their lives. I LOVED it- the details, the communication, the anticipation, and the service.

Eventually, I started receiving referrals for other locations. I began knocking on doors, cold-emailing local venues, and organizing styled shoots to build industry connections. I officially launched Three Strand Cord Weddings right before my daughter was born, and it has been an incredible journey of growth over the past three years.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Honestly, God has blessed me immensely. Reaching this point took significant time and effort, but the bumps along the way were minor. My biggest challenge was balancing motherhood while working a second job for a couple of years until wedding planning could become my full-time career. While juggling both roles was physically and emotionally demanding, I learned so much and am incredibly grateful for the people I met during that season.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Three Strand Cord Weddings offers event management, partial, and full-service planning, all delivered with intentional, dedicated care. Inspired by Ecclesiastes 4:9-12, we believe your wedding day should be effortless, joy-filled, and covenant-focused. Our planning style blends thoughtful design with seamless execution, allowing you to be fully present with the people you love most. We encourage couples to prioritize the details that matter most to them, while we handle the logistics to turn your vision into reality.

What truly sets us apart is our servant-hearted mindset and calming presence. We meticulously cross every ‘t’ and dot every ‘i,’ managing every logistical detail while bringing the positive energy needed to ease wedding-day stress. By working tirelessly behind the scenes both before and during your celebration, we ensure you can fully experience every peaceful, joyful moment with your loved ones.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I would not be where I am today without an amazing community of supporters who believed in me from the very start. The entire Gruene Estate family gave me my first opportunity to grow. Melinde saw my potential early on, and the owners, past and present, took a chance on me before I had any prior industry experience. Swanee, the owner of The Hills Wedding Guide, was also instrumental in my growth; connecting me with wonderful wedding professionals and helping me get started with styled shoots to build my portfolio. When it came to expanding my offerings, my first full-service client, Gabby, gave me the chance to plan a wedding from start to finish instead of just providing the “month-of” coordination I had previously done. She was incredibly patient and gracious, and we still stay in touch today, sending clients and friends to each other’s businesses. Most importantly, my husband has been my rock through it all. It must have been scary when I told him I wanted to leave teaching to plan weddings, but he has been completely supportive, never complaining about late client meetings and always stepping up to care for our kids during long wedding days or out-of-town events. I truly could not do what I love without his love and support.
