Rising Stars: Meet Brandon Schrichten of Austin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Schrichten.

Hi Brandon, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was in my early 20s, making a living with a pretty generic 9-to-5 job, but I wasn’t doing anything I truly loved. Then a major life event left me with my back against the wall and, honestly, nothing much to lose. That was the push I needed to take a chance on something different.
I landed my first editing job at a small post-production company in Fort Collins, Colorado, making $12 an hour. My early projects weren’t exactly glamorous. I was editing parking meter tutorial videos and sales videos for water treatment metering systems. But I was finally doing what I loved, and that mattered more to me than the paycheck.
From there, I kept learning, taking on bigger projects, and following wherever the work led me. What started with $12-an-hour editing jobs eventually grew into the career and business I have today, working across everything from commercials and branded content to music videos and film.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of my biggest struggles was gaining the experience and, more importantly, the self confidence to recognize the value of the services I was offering.
For a long time, I was so afraid of pricing myself out of a job that I would often undersell myself just to make sure I had work coming in. I was also in the early stages of a divorce at the time, so the idea of not having a steady income gave me a pretty constant knot in my stomach. I was always thinking, “What if this next job is my last?”
It took time to realize that valuing my work appropriately wasn’t being unreasonable. It was part of building a sustainable career. Learning to trust my experience and stand behind my value has probably been one of the most important parts of my growth.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in all things post-production, which is actually how I came up with my very “on-the-nose” business name, All Things Post Production. I work across film editing, color grading, and sound design for commercials, branded content, fashion, music videos, documentaries, short films, and a variety of other projects.
What I think sets me apart is that I’m able to perform all three disciplines at a high level. It’s relatively uncommon to find someone who can take a project from the edit through color and sound without having to hand it off to multiple specialists. That allows me to create a much more streamlined workflow while maintaining consistency and quality throughout the entire process.
More than anything, I’m proud of being able to offer that complete perspective. Understanding how every piece of post production affects the others allows me to make better creative decisions and ultimately deliver a more cohesive final product.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I like most about our city is the strong sense of traditional values that still feels foundational to the community. There’s something refreshing about people being neighborly, accommodating, and genuinely respectful of one another. Even something as simple as addressing someone as “ma’am” or “sir,” regardless of their age, carries a sense of courtesy that seems increasingly rare.
It may seem like a tiny gesture, but I think those little acts of respect have a much bigger impact than we realize. They create a sense of consideration between people, and I think that goes a long way toward making a community feel like a community.
As for what I like least, I think every city has its challenges, but I’m fortunate to live somewhere where the things I appreciate about the people far outweigh the things I might change.

Pricing:

  • I’m very blessed to make a healthy living doing work that I genuinely love. Because every project is different in scope, creative needs, and production requirements, I typically price my services based on the individual project rather than a one-size-fits-all rate.
