Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Thomas.
Hi Emily, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I have always loved entertaining. I grew up in a home where family and friends were constantly coming in and out, and my parents were always the hosts who made everyone feel welcome. Watching people gather, connect, and enjoy themselves, and seeing how much joy can come from making people feel at home, really stuck with me.
I also happen to love a good cocktail and have always enjoyed making and sharing drinks at parties and gatherings. Eventually, I started thinking about how I could fuse those two passions together. After a lot of research, I came across the idea of mobile bartending and it just felt like the perfect fit.
Then I found a 1960s Cushman Truckster that had already been converted with taps for serving drinks. I knew almost immediately that I wanted to turn it into something of our own, so we jumped on the opportunity and made it ours.
It has been really special to watch it grow from an idea that combined two things I love into something that my husband and I now get to build together and that allows us to be part of so many people’s celebrations.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Most certainly not. Like any small business, there have been plenty of learning curves, like getting our names out there, the logistics behind towing and managing a tap system on wheels, and learning the quirks of the truck itself. There has been plenty of moments where we have had to quickly problem solve and figure things out as we go. Honestly, I think that has been one of the most rewarding parts of the journey. With every event, we have gained more confidence, learned something new, and found ways to become more efficient and serve our clients even better.
Looking back, it is pretty incredible to see how much we have learned since those first few events. We have also been incredibly fortunate to have clients who trusted us from the very beginning, referred us to their friends and family, and invited us to be part of some of the biggest moments in their lives. That support has meant more to us than we can really put into words.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Fizzy ATX?
We are a mobile bartending and beverage experience that brings a unique bar setup directly to our clients’ events. From backyard parties and private gatherings to corporate events and celebrations of all kinds, we make serving all types of drinks part of the experience rather than just another element of the event.
One of the things that sets us apart is our 1960s Cushman Truckster, which has been fully refurbished into our mobile bar setup. It is definitely a conversation piece and adds a fun, unexpected element to the event. Our drinks are poured directly from the taps of the truck, which turns something as simple as grabbing a drink into an experience guests can enjoy and remember.
We also want the process to be as easy and turnkey for our clients as they want it to be. We can help with everything from planning the drink menu and determining quantities to handling the bar service during the event, allowing our clients to spend less time worrying about the details and more time enjoying their event.
What we are most proud of is the experience we have created around our brand. We are a small, hands-on business, and we genuinely care about making each event feel personal, fun, and memorable.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I think one of the most important qualities to our success is being genuinely people-focused. We are in a business where we are not just serving drinks, we are interacting with people and becoming part of the atmosphere of their event. Being friendly, approachable, and making people feel comfortable goes a long way.
We also take a lot of pride in being dependable and easy to work with. Our clients are trusting us to be part of an important day, and we want them to feel confident from the first conversation through the end of their event. Building those relationships and earning that trust has been a big part of our growth.
